Helen Christene Padgett Thomas

Helen Christene Padgett Thomas, 86, of South Carolina and formerly of Bedford, died Friday, November 13, 2009, in Generations of Batesburg. She was born August 24, 1923, a daughter of the late Kerford Shelton Padgett and Mary Hazel Zimmerman Padgett. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Edward Thomas; three brothers, Jack Padgett, Gerald Padgett and Fred Hubert Padgett. Helen is survived by one daughter, Pamela Cobb Tocornal and husband, Patrick, of N.C.; one granddaughter, Caroline Lamitie and husband, James, of S.C.; two greatgrandchildren, Caitlin and Christene; one sister, Catheryn Musgrove, of Bedford; one brother, Bobby Padgett and wife, Barbara, of Roanoke; one niece, Brenda Woodring and husband, Paul, of Bedford. The family would like to thank the staff of Generations of Batesburg for their dedicated and loving care. A celebration of Helen's life will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating.
