John West Obituary

John Dave West Jr., 89, of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Born on June 16, 1920, he was a son of the late Viola E. and John Dave West Sr. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II, and worked for many years at Valley Cadillac. Surviving is his wife, Thelma K.C. West; sons, Gene West, of Salem, and Bill Craft, of Fayetteville, N.C.; daughter, Sue Roche and husband, Johnnie, of Tampa, Fla.; six grandchildren, Christy Koren, of Raleigh, N.C., Shannon Tutt and husband, Brandon, of Japan, Ralph Santolla, of Columbia, South America, Scott Craft and wife, Pandora, of Princeton, W.Va., Chris Craft, of Richmond, and Tim Craft, of Roanoke; four greatgrandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Geneva Jenkins, of Roanoke; a sister, Mildred Paxton, of Vinton; two brothers, Richard West, of Roanoke, and Clarence West, of Fairborn, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009, in the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home, 1001 Franklin Road, SW, with the Rev. Dick Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Buchanan. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army or a charity of your choice. The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 19, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz in Roanoke. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.lotzfuneralhome.com.
