Sophia Clair Long

Sophia Clair Long, infant daughter of Philmore "Bud" Long Jr. and Ashley Dudding Long, of Bedford, went to be an angel with God, Thursday, November 19, 2009. She was born in Roanoke on August 13, 2009. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Philmore Long Sr. "Sophi go rest and watch over us with your Papaw and Uncle Troy!" In addition to her parents, she was survived her sister, Lillian Long; her grandmothers, Mary Swedberg and Donna Widener; her grandfather, David Dudding; greatgrandparents, Lynda and Jay Martin and Iva and Pete Dudding; her great-greatgrandmother, Glenna Reed; numerous aunts and uncles and friends including, Tiffany Furrow (Godmother), Tiffany Haley, Amber Dudding, David Matthew Dudding, Tammy Long, Jerry and Courtney Long and Amy Long. A special thank you to her babysitter, Kim Overstreet, for all the love and care you gave Sophia. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Burch-Messier Funeral Home with the Rev. Kenneth Lafon and the Rev. Kenneth Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Union Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Burch-Messier Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 317 W. Main Street, Bedford, Va., 540-586-7360.
