William K. Cook

William K. (Bill) Cook , 82 of Roanoke, Va., passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2009. He was born in Crewe, Va., on December 26, 1926 but spent most of his life in Roanoke. He was preceded in death by his son, William K. (Billy) Cook in 1971. Mr. Cook served in the United States Army during World War II and also attended Virginia Tech. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. For many years he worked for the Norfolk and Western Railway as a locomotive Engineer. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Annette L. (Ann) Cook; his son, John Randall (Randy) Cook and wife, Julia E. Cook of Atlanta, Ga.; grandson, Johnnathan William (Nathan) Cook; brother, John Randall Cook and sister, Mae Thurston both of Richmond. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at South Roanoke United Methodist Church, 2330 South Jefferson St., Roanoke Va., 24014.
