Frederick A. Whittaker

Frederick A. Whittaker, 92, of Roanoke, Va., died on Thursday, November 26, 2009. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth S. Whittaker. He was a Locomotive Engineer with 40 years of service with N & W Railway. Surviving are his daughters, Margaret W. Pitts and husband, Mike, of Watkinsville, Ga., and Elizabeth Garner, of Roanoke; and sisters, Virginia Whittaker, of Eggleston, Va., and Estelle Woodbury and husband, Harold, of Pearisburg. The family will receive friends on Monday, November 30, 2009, at Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church from 4 to 6 p.m. where a memorial service will be held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2009, with Dr. Tupper Garden officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens, Rich Creek, Va., at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Museum of Transportation, 303 Norfolk Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24016, Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
