Delores Reed Obituary

Delores Saunders (Dolly) Reed, 74, of Roanoke County, Va., passed away on Thursday evening, December 3, 2009. Born on June 4, 1935. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School, class of 1953. Dolly was a military wife for 30 years, she had the hardest job in the Marine Corp. (being a Marine Corps wife). She enjoyed reading, cooking, and doing ceramics. She was employed at the Food Lion in Garden City for 10 years and loved her friends and customers. She enjoyed traveling with her youngest son, Tim, several years ago to Paris and taking a Disney Cruise. Dolly was the daughter of the late Allen and Gertrude Saunders. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 54 years, Jack M. Reed; and three sons, Timothy Reed, of Newport Beach, Ca., David E. Reed, and family of Indianapolis, Ind., Guy M. Reed, and family of Roanoke, Va.; brother, James (Buddy) Saunders, of Roanoke; sisters, Mildred S. Reed, and Loretta S. Taliaferro, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Mary Kathryn Mountcastle, of Richmond, Va. Special thanks to the staff at 2 West at Friendship Manor for your special care and constant support during this past year. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 8, 2009, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel with Pastor Dava Hensley officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Oakey's Vinton Chapel, 982-2221.
