Frances Brown Obituary

Frances A. Brown, 78, of Glade Hill, Va., and Roanoke, Va., died on Tuesday, December 8, 2009. She retired with 25 years of service as a waitress for Viking Lanes in Roanoke. She was born on April 14, 1931, a daughter of the late James Doak and Virgie Sayers Beavers. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Milford Brown; infant grandson, Joshua Brown; and three brothers, Glenn, Buck and Cecil Beavers. She is survived by one daughter and son-inlaw, Sandy and Lee Hall; four sons and daughters-in-law, Samuel and Amy Brown, Donnie and Sally Brown, Bobby and Jill Brown, and Mike and Kristi Brown; 10 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; five brothers, George, Walter, Robert, Roger and Jimmy Beavers; two sisters, Jenny Burress and Betty Patterson; special caregiver and granddaughter, Jessica Poff; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on the fourth and first floors of Friendship Manor for their dedicated love and care shown to Mrs. Brown. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009, from the Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Mountain View Memorial Park with Pastor Rick Poland officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 10, 2009, and on Friday, December 11, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m. each day at Lynch Conner-Bowman Funeral Home, 140 Floyd Avenue, Rocky Mount, Va. www.lynchconnerbowman.com

To the Family - My husband & I knew Frances back when she worked at the bowling alley. I am sure that job was a tedious one but I always remember her with a smile on her face and being so nice to all of us that bowled there. I think she would want to be remembered fondly... and we do.
