Edna Carter Obituary

Edna Louise Carter, 85, of River Road, Pembroke, Va., departed this life on Tuesday evening, December 8, 2009, in the devoted and loving care of her children at her home. Born in Giles County on May 26, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Sophia Jones Niece. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; several brothers and sisters; and her husband, Earnest Henry Carter. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Calvin D. Carter, Barry and Kathy Carter, Henry Carter, Patricia Carter, Betty J. Carter, Becky and Ivan Blevins, and Donna and Greg Shaver, all of Pembroke, Pam and Curtis Frair, of Pearisburg, and Tina and Jim Jackson, of Bozoo, W.Va.; her four grandchildren; her four stepgrandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law, Swanston and Edna Niece, of Bluefield. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from noon until 2 p.m. before the services. Online condolences may be sent by visiting kendallfuneralhome.com.
