Lillian Estelle Chilton Fields, 97, a resident of Brandon Oaks in Roanoke, Va., died Friday, December 11, 2009. She was predeceased by her husband, W. Price Fields. They were married for 51 years. Estelle was born in Roanoke on October 9, 1912, and was the daughter of the late James Mark Chilton and Ivie Brown Persinger. Estelle was a lifelong resident of Roanoke. She was also predeceased by her three sisters, Kathleen Brown Godfrey, Lucille Garst and Mary Rodger Spicer. Those remaining to cherish her memory include daughter and son-in-law, Colette and Jim Hinson, of Smith Mountain Lake, and daughter, Priscilla Booker and Charles Harbaugh, of Virginia Beach, Va. She was a loving grandmother to her three grandsons, Mark Davidson, Mel Booker and wife, Joan, Price Booker and wife, Abby. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren, Jake Booker, Kyle Booker and Hadley Booker. Also surviving are beloved and dear nieces, Marie Jamison and Ivie Ellis and husband, Edwin. Estelle was one of the first residents to move into Brandon Oaks in 1994. She loved her life there and made many friends there through the years. In recent years, she has been in the Assisted Living section where she was supported by loving and capable staff members and by beloved private duty caregivers. For this, her family is very grateful. Estelle was a very active member of Virginia Heights Baptist Church for over 60 years. A gracious woman of quiet faith, Estelle loved her church and her family. The family will receive friends at Oakey's South Chapel, Sunday December 13, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service honoring the life of Estelle Fields will be conducted at noon Monday, December 14, 2009, at Oakey's South Chapel with the Reverend C. Nelson Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem. Arrangements are being made by Oakey's South Chapel, 540-989-3131.

While I have not seen Aunt Estelle for many years, I have wonderful memories of her and Uncle Price and Colette and Priscilla. She had a very welcoming spirit and such a great sense of humor. Fondly, Sandra Fields Seymour
