Virginia Keffer Obituary

Virginia Elizabeth Martin Keffer, 83, of Pembroke, Va., passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, December 14, 2009, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was a daughter of the late Ray and Fannie Niece Martin, of Pembroke. Besides her mother and father, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Marvin Lee Martin, of Pembroke, and Joseph Martin, of Christiansburg; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Crockett Keffer, of Pearisburg. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and caring husband of 64 years, George (Buddy) W. Keffer Sr., of Pembroke; her sons, GW Keffer Jr., of Pearisburg, and Joseph (Chuck) Keffer and his companion, Judy Cheek, of Pembroke; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a dear aunt and uncle, Swantson and Edna Niece, of Bluefield, W.Va.; and sisters-in-law, Betty and Don Thomas, of Pembroke, and Dorothy G. Martin, of Christiansburg. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke with burial following in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. before the services. The family would like to thank Marcena Williams and her family for the loving care they gave "Gin" during her illness.
