Wayne McPeak Obituary

Wayne Kern McPeak, 59, of Owens Road, Snowville , Va., passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2009, at the UVA Medical Center. Born on October 7, 1950, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late Kern Jackson McPeak and Romaine Janet Caldwell Dell. His sister, Toni Lisa Barge, also preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served during the Vietnam Era. He had a love for cars, boats, his Harley Davidson and known for his conservative values and strong opinions. He worked for Volvo Trucks -North America with 19 years of service and was a member of the United Auto Workers Union (Local 2069). Surviving him are his daughters and son-in-law, Tracey and Dale "Bubba" Tabor, of Pulaski; and Chastity Lester, of Virginia; grandchildren, Hannah, Heather and Terry Wayne Tabor, and three other grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Wanda and Lee Mills, of Clear Springs, Md., Bonnie Shaw and her late husband, June Shaw, of Clear Springs, Md., Barbara and Jim Linaburg, of Norfolk, Va., Rio Ferris and husband, Bentley, (his brother from another mother), of Floyd, Va., Dallas and Jo McPeak, of McCoy, Va., Koli and Debbie McPeak, of Pulaski, Va., and Loveric and Terry Herman, of Manchester, Md. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at the Bower Funeral Home Chapel, Pulaski with the Pastor Dave Holladay of the Floyd Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Thornspring Cemetery where the VFW Post #1184 will conduct Military Honors. In memory of Wayne, the family asks that you bring an outdoor Christmas ornament to decorate the tree in remembrance of him. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening, December 16, 2009, at the Bower Funeral Home, Pulaski. Koli and Debbie, Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Wayne was a good guy and always spoke to me at work and asked about the kids especially Kevin.
Take care and remember the good times and know that now there is no pain or sickness for him.

I am sorry to hear of Wayne's passing. I have many fond and very interesting memories of the time that I worked with him at Volvo Trucks. There was rarely a dull moment when he was around.
