To the family of Thurman, my loved is extended to you at his time, and prayers of comfort, for the lost of your son and brother.
Thurman and I were classmates from 1969,
Thurman was so smart and witty in high school, we all loved him. It was so good to share 2 dinners with him this year and to visit with him and his Mom.
Thurman will always be loved and missed, and I bet he has the angels smiling now.
Love and God Bless.

Being Thurman's friend was unconditional. Good times, great conversations, music shared, a shred love of gardening and, of course, Steppin' Out 2009 with Thurman will be a great memory for us. Thurman had a heart as big as all outdoors and was one of the most caring persons we have ever known. He will be missed alot.

Thurman was a good friend with a huge heart! He gave the best hugs ever! We had a lot of fun times hanging out in Blacksburg and at Steppin' Out. I have a photograph hanging in my office of beautiful irises that Thurman gave me years ago. When I was going through a difficult period in my life, Thurman sent me a book that dealt with what I was going through. He was unique and funny and caring. I have a really good picture of him taken at Steppin' Out '95...the day we met. I pray for you to be comforted in your time of loss. Thurman, rest in peace.

Thurman was my boss at Virginia Tech when I was 18 (which was many, many years ago) and we quickly became good friends. I will always remember his love of music, his cats, and his fun personality. He was a very special person and will be greatly missed.

I was so saddened and shocked to hear of Thurman's passing- We were only friends for such a short time and shared a love of gardening and other passions. May you have some comfort in having known him and shared him for so many years and KNOW your paths wil one day cross again

Thurman is a friend of more than 20 years and it doesn't seem possible he's gone. I'll miss that wicked laugh and zany sense of humor.
God bless
