Joseph Eller Obituary

Dr. Joseph J. Eller, 97, of Marion, Va., died on Friday, December 18, 2009, in Autumn Care of Altavista, Va. Dr. Eller was a member of the Medical Society of Virginia, Smyth County Medical Society and the American Academy of Family Practice. He was a graduate of Emory & Henry College and of Emory University Medical School. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the European Theater and was an active member of the Royal Oak Presbyterian Church. Dr. Eller was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Bundy Eller; his sister, Irene Graybeal; and his brothers, E. Vaughan Eller and K.L. Eller Jr. He is survived by one son, J. Johnson Eller Jr. and wife, Patricia, of Altavista, Va.; two grandchildren, Kara Eller and Kate Eller Dillard and husband, Brandon; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Dillard and Luke Dillard. Funeral Services will be held at noon on Tuesday, December 22, 2009, at Royal Oak Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Alan Gray and the Reverend Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 21, 2009, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Marion Life Saving Crew, P.O. Box 784, Marion, Va. 24354 or the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 133, Marion, Va. 24354. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the Eller Family.

Dr. Eller was a great doctor, he delivered my two oldest daughters, and took really good care of them. He was never in a hurry, and always gave my wife great care. R.H.Simpson, marion Va..
