Beverly Quesenberry Obituary

Beverly Ann Patterson Quesenberry, 59, of Max Meadows, Va., died on Friday, December 18, 2009 in the Wythe County Community Hospital, Wytheville, Va. She was born in Richmond, Va., on May 12, 1950, and was the daughter of Raymond Marvin Patterson and Ida Frances Vaughn Patterson of Richmond, Va. Bev did her undergraduate studies at VCU, received her master's in reading from Virginia Tech and her master's in administration and leadership from Radford University. She was Head Teacher at Jackson Memorial Elementary School in Wythe County before taking the position as Principal of Max Meadows Elementary School. She was a member of the Virginia Education Association. Bev was a wonderful mother and best friend to her daughter, Jenny. She was a lifelong educator and her legacy is her devotion to the education of youth. Her teaching abilities enriched many lives over the span of her 30+ years in the education profession. Bev's love for teaching heavily impacted the life of her daughter, who has followed in her footsteps in dedicating her life as a teacher and educator. In addition to her parents, surviving are her daughter, Jennifer Zienius, of Radford, Va.; sisters and spouses, Patricia Lehman, of Richmond, Va., Sue and Randy Hartley, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donna and Leonard Loving, of Richmond, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2009, from the Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Teresa Tolbert officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be made to an educational fund of one's choice. Dear Jenny,
It's been a year now since Bev left us. I don't know if you will read this but I felt compelled to write. I know this first year without your mom must have been hard but I'm sure you felt your mother watching over you. That feeling will never leave. You made your mom proud, continue to honor her by being the wonderful person you are. Merry Christmas.
Much love,
Laura Tate

Jenny, Just was able to get back online. Dear Jenny: You know that your mother was so dear to me and was my very best friend. I miss her dearly and think of her every day and night. You will always be in my thoughts and prayers and I am always there for you. We need to stay strong for each other as Bev would want us to andjust remember how very proud she was of you. She was a great mother, sister and friend. We all need time to heal if that is ever possible, however, I feel a lot better knowing she is up there looking over us and I know she is at peace and would want us to be too. I love you and will always have your mother in my heart. Love, Trisha.

Jenny,
Follow your dreams as your mother did. We had many good times together in VA, Tampa, Ft. Walton Beach, Orlando and Jacksonville.
Aunt Beverly was a good person and lots of fun. Stay strong and remember all of your great times.

Jenny,
Your mother was so proud of you and the two of you had a special love. Your mother and our sister was strong, caring, giving and loving. She touched many lives. I regret that we lived so far apart and could not be together more often. We had vacations and get togethers and always had great fun and great memories. Beverly will be greatly missed by all and did much in her life to make things better for others. I know that she is now living in peace with no pain and continuing to give of herself. The emptiness and loss that we are all feeling will take time to heal due to her being such a great mother, great sister, great daughter, great aunt, great friend and great educator. Love, Sue Patterson Hartley

Jennifer,

I was just told today of your mom's passing. I was her advisor for her master's program in school administration at RU. She spoke of you often in the many classes that we shared. As you may know, she was one of my favorites; I even stopped by and visited her in her school on one of my teaching trips to Abingdon. With my wife being a former principal of Max Meadows, Bev and I had an even closer connection. I am so sorry for your loss. I know how positively she impacted students and teachers in Wythe County. As Bev's friend, I'm also sorry for my loss. What a free and open laugh she had! I did not know that she was sick. Know that I am thinking about you and your family.

Sincerely,
Jim Sellers

Dear Jenny,
I love you and I loved and still love Bevy. I still can't believe it's true. I wish all of this never happened but I know there is nothing anyone could have done. We all feel so upset but we know Bevy would not want us to be sad. We know she would want us to look forward to us being able to see her in heaven. Everything's different now but I know we can still have fun over the holidays and other visits and I know Bevy would want us to. I love you so much.

To Jenny and all who are commenting:
Bev was my big sister. She taught me so much in her life and is still teaching me lessons even through this. She was such an important part of everything. This Christmas was sad and different, but somehow I knew she was with us and would not want to put any damper on Christmas - she loved Christmas. I am still not believing this is true, and I go from crying to laughing, and then back to crying. Jenny - we love you so much! I ask everyone to keep us in your prayers.
