Leo Montgomery Obituary

Leo Douglas (Buddy) Montgomery Sr., 75, of Roanoke, Va., passed away from his struggles of this life into glorious eternity with his Lord and Saviour on Monday, December 28, 2009. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eunice Gertrude and James Douglas Montgomery; his brother, Hunter Cleveland Montgomery; his sister, Margaret Costello; his niece, Vallie Mae Montgomery; and his father-in-law, Robert L. Boothe. Surviving are his loving wife of 47 and a half years, Shirley Boothe Montgomery; two sons, Leo and wife, Judy Montgomery, and Daniel and wife, Robin Montgomery; a daughter, Cynethia and husband, Tony Lyle; six grandchildren, T.J. Lyle, Kevin Lyle, Latasha Johnson, Ashley Montgomery, Jordan Currin, and Morgan Montgomery; two great-grandchildren, Kristen Welcher, and Rodney Welcher Jr. all of Roanoke; a nephew, Johnny and wife, Connie Montgomery, of Rockbridge County; mother-in-law, Lillian Boothe; and several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009, from Community Advent Christian Church with Pastor T.G. Ayers officiating. Memorials may be made to Community Advent Christian Church, 4512 Old Mountain Road, NE, Roanoke, Va. 24019. The family wishes to thank the staff at the VA Hospital who cared for Mr. Montgomery during his illness. Additional thanks to Meals On Wheels for their service while Buddy was at home. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 540-982-2100.

I am so sorry to hear about Buddy. I knew you all when we lived at Mack's in Salem and haven't seen you for years. I always remember Buddy being such a hard working man. I will keep you in my prayers.
