Ruby Merle Riggan Wilson

Ruby Merle Riggan Wilson, 88, of Bedford, Va., died on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Autumn Care in Altavista. She was born in Greensboro, N.C., on October 31, 1921, a daughter of the late George Elbert Riggan and Katy Fern Harder Riggan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Riley William Wilson; and her grandson, Roger K. Oakes Jr. She was a member of City Lake Baptist Church, Burlington, N.C. Ruby is survived by her daughter, Merle W. Oakes and her husband, Roger, of Bedford; her son, George Riley Wilson and his wife, Shirl, of Durham, N.C.; also four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Private family funeral services were conducted at Tharp Funeral Home with the Rev. David R. Bayse officiating. Burial in Virginia Memorial Park.
