Ervin Harrison Obituary

Ervin Harrison, of Christiansburg, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was born in Marion, Va., on August 14, 1924, to Cora Lee and Darl Harrison. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Edna Hazel Harrison; granddaughter, Jennifer Hazel Sell; three brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Beulah Harrison; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Harrison Sell and James H. Sell, of Vinton; grandson and spouse, Randall and Alicia Sell, of Salem; grandson, Corey Sell, of Arlington, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Colin, and Olivia Sell, of Salem; sister and brother-in-law, Frankie and Howard Brown, of Salem; sisters-in-law, Ruby Hash, of Salem, and Hazel Linkous, of Blacksburg; and numerous special nieces and nephews. Mr. Harrison was a Veteran of World War II while serving in the United States Navy. He retired in 1986 from The Radford Arsenal after 36 years of service and attended the Merrimac Pentecostal Holiness Church. His welcoming smile will always be remembered and his calm spirit will always be with us. Services will be conducted by the Reverend Jerry Sloss at McCoy Funeral Home in Blacksburg on Monday, January 4, 2010, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Christiansburg. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 3, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive SW, Blacksburg.
