Barbara Swift Hammond

Mrs. Barbara Swift Hammond, 87, of Yadkinville, N.C., and formerly of Massachusetts and of Winston-Salem, N.C., died on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Willowbrook Healthcare Center. Mrs. Hammond was born on July 27, 1922, in Acushnet, Mass., to the late Paul and Nellie Coupe Swift. She was retired from what was then known as North Carolina Baptist Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary McInnis. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Charles S. Hammond; three daughters, Joanne H. (David) Yaun, Marilyn H. McInnis and Paula H. (Bruce) Shaw; five grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church of Mocksville with the Rev. Darren Alexander officiating.
