Barbara Hammond Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Swift Hammond, 87, of Yadkinville, N.C., and formerly of Massachusetts and of Winston-Salem, N.C., died on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Willowbrook Healthcare Center. Mrs. Hammond was born on July 27, 1922, in Acushnet, Mass., to the late Paul and Nellie Coupe Swift. She was retired from what was then known as North Carolina Baptist Hospital. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary McInnis. Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Charles S. Hammond; three daughters, Joanne H. (David) Yaun, Marilyn H. McInnis and Paula H. (Bruce) Shaw; five grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren. A memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church of Mocksville with the Rev. Darren Alexander officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be considered for Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Brancomb #10, Charlotte, N.C. 28215-3225 or to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103. A big Thank You to all who have signed Mother's guest book. We had a beautiful memorial service for her today, again thank you from all in the Hammond family.

Judy and I have many fond memories of our times together, especially at Christmas.

We were sorry to learn of Barbara’s death. May your hearts be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate her life.
