William Gilmore Armstrong

William Gilmore (Billy) Armstrong, 76, of Buena Vista, Va., died on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in the VA Medical Center, Salem. Born on November 27, 1933, in Lexington, he was a son of the late William Mack Armstrong and Elsie Reid Armstrong. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother; and two sisters. Mr. Armstrong was a member of VFW Post #1435 in Buena Vista. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine Ogden Armstrong; one son, Ricky Lee Armstrong and wife, Teresa, of Buena Vista; one daughter, Vickie Grant, of Buena Vista; three grandchildren, Joshua Grant, Dustin Grant, and Heather Armstrong; and one greatgrandchild, Alexis Armstrong. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010, at Victory Baptist Church with the Rev. Dean Staton officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Arrangements by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Buena Vista, Va.
