Agnes Gregory Obituary

Agnes Virginia Hurst Gregory, 88, of Pulaski, Va., died Wednesday evening, January 6, 2010, in Pulaski Community Hospital. She was born on September 7, 1921, in Radford, and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Tolley Hurst and Romer Milton Hurst. She was a long-time, and oldest living member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Pulaski, where she had taught Sunday School for the children, was active in the choir, a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship, and most recently a member of the Mary Martha Guild, where she served as President, Secretary and Treasurer. She worked as the title clerk for Hudson Chevrolet and prior to that worked for The Western Auto Store in Pulaski. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie E. Gregory; brothers, Elmer Hurst, William E. Hurst and Gilmer T. Hurst Sr.; and a sister, Lois Hurst. She is survived by one son, The Rev. John Gregory and his wife, Beth, of Leeds, Ala.; and two daughters, Joan G. Knode, of Pulaski, and Janet G. Jackson and her husband, Dennis, of Pulaski. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Kriner, Chris Gregory and his wife, Jodi, Brian Gregory and his wife, Kati, Beka Reiss and her husband, Nolen, Janet Rena Kanode and Duane Kanode, Missie Nash and her husband, Greg, and Rusty Jackson and his wife, Melissa; 11 greatgrandchildren, Katie and Ian Gregory, Jonathan and Joshua Kriner, Alex and Chloe Reiss, Ericka and Bailley Nash, and Ashlin, Jordan and Drew Jackson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the First Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Winn officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, January 8, 2010, at the church from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers are appreciated, but memorials are preferred and can be made to the First Christian Church, P.O.
