Daisy McNeil Obituary

Daisy Lee Hare McNeil, of The Park Oak Grove, Roanoke, Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 10, 2010. She was born in Williamson, W.Va., on December 16, 1922, to Joseph Forest and Inez Lillian Robertson Hare. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ambrose Nims McNeil; her parents ;and a sister, Evelyne Iretta Hare Vinson. Survivors include her sister, Esther Irene Hare Williamson, of The Glebe, Daleville, Va.; daughters, Karen Charlton Dinsmore ,of Hilton Head, S.C., Sharon Charlton Wrenn, of Bedford, Va., Glenna Charlton Dowdy and husband, Larry, of Roanoke, Va., and Glenda Charlton Middleton and husband, Leon, of Covington. Va.; grandchildren, Robert Todd Grubb, of Tega Cay, S.C., and his wife Susan, Christopher Andrew Wrenn, of Roanoke, Va., and his wife, Tambra, Shannon Lee Wrenn, of San Diego, Calif., and Ryan Charlton Middleton and Brian Christopher Middleton and his wife, Gina, of Covington, Va.; great-grandchildren, Jenna Paige Wrenn, of Roanoke, Va., Andrew Christopher and Kinsey Lynn Middleton, of Covington, Va., Brandon Todd Grubb, of Charlotte, N.C., and Mariah Chase Grubb, of LeSage, W.Va.; and her faithful, loving companion, Chipper, who gave her enjoyment and companionship beyond measure. In addition to her immediate family, Daisy treasured her sorority sisters in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was a member of the American Business Women's Association. She was retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital. A memorial service celebrating Daisy's life will be held at noon on Saturday, January, 16, 2010, at Oakey's North Chapel with Dr. Kevin B. Meadows officiating. Interment will be private. A very special thank you to The Park Oak Retirement Community, Nurse Finders and Good Samaritan Hospice for making Daisy's final days as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made in Daisy's memory to the MAC (Ministries Activities Center) Grandin Court Baptist Church, 2660 Brambleton Avenue, Roanoke, Va. 24015.
