Lucy Mae Persing

Lucy Mae Vest Keaton Starr Persing, 76, of Roanoke, Va., met her Savior on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Lucy was born on January 8, 1934. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. Persing. She is survived by one brother, William "Sonny" Vest, of Roanoke, Va.; four children, daughter, Gaye K. (Eddie) Shepherd, of Roanoke; son, Roy Warner (Debbie) Keaton, of Roanoke; daughters, Denise S. (Bob) Runnicles, of Delray Beach, Fla.; son, Cody L. Starr, of Roanoke; her beloved adopted daughter and caregiver, Donna Ibrahim, of Roanoke; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews treasured in her heart for their love and attention. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gentle Shepherd Hospice and wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their outstanding love and care. We also will never be able to thank Donna Ibrahim enough for her dedication and sacrifices made in Lucy's care. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Oakey's South Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at noon on Saturday to be officiated by the Rev.
