Helen Johnson Obituary

Helen Janette (Shorty) Johnson, 83, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at her home in Marion, Va. Helen lived most of her life in Saltville where she was a life long member of Madam Russell Methodist Church, and moved to Marion during the last few years of her life. She was caring, loving, and full of life. She was everyone's favorite aunt and will be missed by all of her family. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Maude; three sisters, Mary Johnson Bowman, Dorothy Johnson Weaver, and Julia Johnson Bailey; and five brothers, Fletcher, Hebert, Earnest, George, and Bob Johnson. Helen is survived by two sisters-in-law, Regina Johnson, of Point Pleasant, W.Va., and Shirley Haynes, of Saltville; and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She wanted to thank her special caregivers, Cissy Weaver, and Tom and Jean Weaver, for their close care during her illness. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 13, 2010, at Henderson Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Petty officiating. Burial will follow in the Elizabeth Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service. Online condolences may be made to the family at drhendersonfuneralhome.com D.R.
