Dear Mrs. Warren, Merle & Robert, George and Jimmy:

Please know that your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Words cannot express what George Warren meant to this community, the local bar, the judiciary and the Commonwealth. He certainly spent his entire life dedicated to public service and, in that light, was the quintessential example of what a true public servant should be. Personally, he was a geniune mentor and guide to a young attorney just starting out in the practice of law and was always willing to lend a helping hand and advice when it was needed. He also set the standard as a prosecutor in the Bristol Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. All of us here strive to fill the huge shoes he left when he retired. He will truly be missed by all.

January 13, 2010

To the family, my deepest sympathy. My memories of George Warren go back to my childhood. My dad, Earl Helton, Sr ran Helton's Grocery many years in Bristol Va. George and my dad were buddies and had the utmost respect for each other. Even though on opposite sides of the political fence they enjoyed the bantering and good-natured ribbing concerning politics in Bristol and Washinton County. I remember many antics and practical jokes they played on each other over the years. We all cherish those memories of those we have loved and have gone on. May your family hold onto those memories as well.
