David Johnson Obituary

David H. (Bud) Johnson, 80, of Cripple Creek, Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 13, 2010. He was born on June 5, 1929, in Wythe County, son of the late Samuel Harlow and Emma Crockett Johnson. He was a faithful member of Crocketts Chapel United Methodist Church, a member of the local chapter of the AFL-CIO Union and a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from the General Electric Corporation after 33 years of service. "Bud" was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Johnson. He is survived by his wife, Lois C. Johnson; son, Owen W. Moore; special daughter-in-law, Vicke L. Moore; granddaughter, Lisa Moore Wiedl; greatgranddaughter, Madalynne Stamper; grandson, Kenneth Rowlett and family; stepdaughters and spouses, Carolyn and Wes Weiseman, Susan and Frank Hawks, and Joan and Stuart Warden; step sons and spouse, Frank Ceary, and Daniel and Barbara Ceary; two sisters, Brownie Wolford, Iris Jackson; one stepsister, Elsie Henley; two stepbrothers, Bob Henley and George Henley and 27 stepgrandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Crocketts Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. David R. Moore, the Rev. Daniel E. Ceary and the Rev. Timothy Worgan officiating. Interment will follow in Crockett Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, January 15, 2010, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 West Ridge Road, Wytheville, Va. 24382 or to Lois C. Johnson's granddaughter and spouse, who are going to be missionaries to Alaska, Jason and Teresa Severs, 170 Reed Lane, Wytheville, Va. 24382. Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville, Va. is in charge of arrangements.
