Richard Hult Obituary

HULT, Richard L.


Of Galt, lost his year-long battle with cancer on February 3, 2008. He passed peacefully at his home with family at his side. Richard was born on July 19, 1926 in Beresford, SD. His family later moved to Potter County, SD where he attended country grammar school and Gettysburg High School in Gettysburg, SD. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII and was in the reserves when called back into duty in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict. After leaving the military Richard went to work at McClellan Air Force Base and started a career that lasted 39 years. He was first employed as Air Craft Mechanic and the last 24 years as Air Craft Inspector.

Richard had a great passion for music. He loved to get together with his musician friends and play the guitar. He was an honorary member of the California State Old Time Fiddlers, Dist. 5, the Sacramento Western Swing Society, the Calif Bluegrass Assoc., Galt Area Historical Society, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9888 and the Loyal Order of the Moose #634.

Richard had a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins which he kept in contact with all through the years. Everyone he met was a friend for life. His kind, patient, gentle personality will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Richard is survived by wife, Sue Dean Hult of Galt; stepchildren, DeAnna Nevins-Dean of Galt, Dennis Dean of Lodi, Rick Dean of Sacramento; sisters, Shirley (Don) Kunstle of Gettysburg, SD, and Millie Bond of Leavenworth, WA; & 7 grandchildren, Greg and Steve Shuman, Christina (Jeremy) Mahaffey, Trent, Morgan, Lexi, and Timmy Dean. Preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Laurie Hult of Lebanon, SD.

Memorial will be held on February 16, 2008 at 11:00am at the First Baptist Church, 653 A Street, Galt with Pastor Rob Patterson officiating. Committal will be private. A reception will be held at the Littleton Center following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kaiser Hospice, 21125 Morse Ave., Sacramento, CA 95825 or Galt Area Historical Society, P.O. Box 782, Galt, CA 95632 (earmarked McFarland Ranch).
