Ruth Ellen Bennion Johnson

Ruth Johnson Obituary

Ruth Ellen Bennion Johnson 1912 ~ 2008 Ruth Ellen Bennion Johnson. November 30,1912-March 26, 2008. A life of Caring. Ruth was born to Earl Slade Bennion and Nellie Hayball in Taylorsville, Utah. Theirs was a home of industry and service and beauty, which ideals Ruth continued to live and foster throughout her life. She graduated from Cypress High School, attended University of Utah where she obtained her teaching certificate. She was a beloved teacher of children at home, at church and in elementary school. She married Rolland O. Johnson, Dec. 29, 1937 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She was always his devoted companion and support through years of teaching, farming, and retirement. If she kept a silent watchword it was "Speak Good of Everyone". Mom was faithful in her service in the Primary, Mutual and Relief Society. She continued to be a force for good and guidance to her children, family and friends for seven years after her companion's passing. Their precious daughter, Diane (Joseph Anderson) passed away in 1978. Joe later married Margo Parrish who was the perfect mother to Diane's children. We are happy that Mom, Dad and Diane are together again. Ruth is survived by her children, Sherman (Janis), Richard (Carol, deceased wife, JoAnn Lunt), and Ron (Sharon), her brothers, Dale Bennion and Alfred Bennion, a sister, Beverly McDonald, 24 four grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at the Holladay 28th Ward, 2625 Milo Way, Holladay at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29th. The family will greet Ruth's friends at Cottonwood Mortuary, 4760 S. Highland Drive, Fri., March 28th from 6-8 p.m. and at 12 Noon at the chapel prior to the memorial service.

Dear Family,
Ruth was such a wonderful example and a tender, caring person. My Mom loved her dearly and still thinks of her often. She certainly taught us all how to age gracefully and endure with a sweet smile. She has always been someone I admire greatly.
Much love to all of you,
