Doug,
I just got word of Brittany's untimely death. I am so sorry. As her Creative Writing teacher for several years, I had the privilege of knowing her inner voice as a teen. She had beautiful voice. She wrote her writing philosophy years ago and I would like to quote a few lines. "My creations are blood and fire, the things I most truly love and despise. The things I find I can't possibly escape.... (Writing is) More than an addiction. It's immortality that will bring me back again and again after I die." If you have her notebooks, when you are able, read.

Bless you Doug.

The underground became a little more lonely and my heart becomes a bit more empty. You were a great friend and a great caver. My love and friendship to you and Doug always. Never forget you, and will always take you with me while I'm underground.

Doug,

I am very sorry for your loss. I had just met you two this last fall hiking and riding Collins. I took the pic of you two and your friend that day. I send my best to you and the strength to get through this difficult time. Stay strong, and my deepest sympathies to you and both families.

Doug,

I'm so sorry for your loss, I still can't even come close to believing it's true. Brit was my partner in crime at work, she was my friend and just a wonderful person. Work will never be the same, I will always miss her and cherish her memory. Please, let me know if you need anything at all, I'll do anything I can to help--I can't imagine what you are going through.

Take Gentle Care.

Brittany offered a positive impact on me and, I suspect, every person she met. This is the highest of tragedies -- not least because she will always be thought of with great fondness and regret.

Britt,

I have always appreciated your unique personality, and the way you bring other people into your circle. We have enjoyed so many good times, and learned allot of each other. I love your zest for life, your love of the outdoors, and your intelligence. Obviously, I wish there was more time. Our friendship was still too new. You were meant to be a life long friend, and I wasn’t ready to let you go. There are too few of people like you in this world.

I was always so impressed at how you and Doug were each other’s world. It seemed that you were molded for each other. That is an enviable and beautiful quality. I love you both, and will miss you. God bless you my friend.

Doug,

I am so sorry for your loss. I know on some level how hard it is to lose forever someone you truly love. I know how much you adored her, and she was a woman truly worthy of such adoration. You were always a good friend and I cannot express the level of sadness I feel for you right now.

Britt was a beautiful, wonderful person, the world has lost much with her passing.

I've only known you for such a short time Britt, but I've learned allot from both you & Doug. I will always admire your extreme passion for the outdoors and I'll cherish the times that you & Doug allowed me into your backcountry world to share the wonderful experiences. Thank you for that trust. Your time here was way too short.

I do not know how to express to you any word of comfort that would bare up to the pain you must have right now. They all sound so insignificant; I am so sorry.
