Alan, For the past several months, I have been meeting people and gathering information to submit you to the Army's Military Intelligence Hall of Fame. It has been incredibly rewarding, almost therapeutic, to listen to how you touched the lives of so many people you knew. I should have it done by the end of the month, well before the 15 October deadline. I need a little help though, I am unable to find your next of kin. I need their point of contact information for the nomination. I am hoping this post, and you, help put them in touch with me. Chris 256-348-1503.

A Hero has left us but the love and friendship and caring he shared with all he met on the road of life will forever remain to live on in the life of all he touched. He cared and that is how he is remembered. It is so tragic to lose the ones we love. I know it is a comfort to know many others feel your loss. May God watch over his family and know Maj. Alan G. Rogers was indeed a HERO and will be missed and thought of by all who knew him. God Bless all our brave soldiers. Rest in peace Alan.

I just want to take this time to honor Alan on this day, memorial day. As we conduct our memorial service here in Iraq tonight I will be thinking of him. I remember him being cool, calm, and collected. This is the day that I honor him, a warrior, a hero, a friend. It is my prayer that the family will find comfort in knowing that today we pay tribute Alan Rogers.

To all the friends and family of Alan -I am so sorry for your loss.. I was thinking about him today and googled him when I learned what happened. We were friends many years ago - feels like a lifetime ago- when he was at UF. I was very honored to attend a couple of military functions with him, and he did me the honor of officiating my wedding. I have regretted for many years that I lost contact with him- especially now. He was a truly amazing person.

Rev. Alan G. Rogers is a fellow gospel preacher whom I love and will never forget. Today I stop to honor his memory. He preached God's Word with power. I can only say that, "for all things works together for the good to those who love God and who are the called according to His purpose." MAJ (Rev) Alan Rogers loved the Lord and I pray God's designed purpose continues to be fulfilled in this life of an Angel God shared with the world. May his family continues to find encouragement in knowing that Alan's life was NOT in vain.

To Alan, his family and friends
I met Alan in 2001 at Camp Eagle Korea. I had taken over the office that he had left to become a company commander. I was a private fresh out of school and as green as they could come. Alan was a Captain by rank but a Captain of men as I saw it. I was in a tight spot having to run an office I knew nothing about. Alan had told me that if there was anything I ever needed just give him a call and I did. He taught me everything he possible could about my job and helped me become the soldier I am today. We both left Korea and went our separate ways, but never further than a phone call away. We stayed in touch throughout the years. He had invited me to DC quite a few times as well as a Vegas trip or two. Sad to say our schedules never could quite match. Alan was the first person I told when I met my wife. I called him and said “Alan, I met the woman I am going to marry”. I hadn’t even asked her out yet. The first time he met her he knew it was true. I left for Iraq in 2006 and returned in 2007; Alan and I pretty much pasted each other’s plane in the air. My wife was hurt at work while I was away in Iraq and Alan every time he found his way to Arizona would always make sure to check in on her and make sure she had everything she needed. I was away at school when he died and did not find out until later in May what had happened. I found out from a complete stranger and did not want to believe him, telling myself that he didn’t know what he was talking about. I had remembered an E-mail that I had received from Alan in December just before I left for school. I got home convinced that the stranger was confused and started searching on the computer. I found what I had hoped did not exist. I cried, a great friend lost his funeral over and I was not there for him. To this day it is hard for me to talk about his death. I teach at the Military Intelligence Course at Ft. Huachuca AZ. I ensure that every class I talk to know of Alan’s sacrifice and to which his dedication to the military, his soldiers and friends is something they should strive to match. My wife now of three and a half years is pregnant with our first child. A boy due Aug. 18 2009. We have decided to name him Alan after a great friend and an even better human being. Alan may not be with us in flesh but he will live on in his friends, family, our words and our deeds. God bless you and may you rest in peace brother.

I believe that MAJ Rogers bunked next to my boyfriend's team chief. Several days after Alan passed away, my boyfriend emailed asking for prayers for you all. Please know that a mass was offered for the repose of his soul shortly after. Alan and all those who loved him and whom he loved have been held very close in prayer over the past year. We will continue to lift you all in prayer. You are so very close to heart, even though we do not know each other.

Thinking of all our soldiers today.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

MAJ Rogers' friends and family,
I am so deeply sorry for your loss. More than anything I am sorry for the loss of this amazing man, to the world. I didn't know MAJ Rogers extremely well, but I did have the honor of serving as one of his soldiers while in Korea in 2002. There has been no Commander since who has displayed as much professionalism and courtesy to me. I was really hoping to work with him again one day or at least cross paths. Great man, who I would eagerly follow in the direst of circumstances. I thank him for being the person he was and for his friends and family for helping shape such and amazingly strong and wonderful person. For anyone that knew him, you must always remember his smile.

you were the best. i'll always remember fondly gen helmick yelling "alan...get in here!" as we served in the dsd's office. you were a great soldier, but an even better human being. i cannot adequately express the thanks that i owe...gratuities that include: humility, thoughtfulness, professionalism, but probably the most important--the ability to laugh at yourself without being totally affable. i learned an incredible amount of life's goodness from your actions.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I have signed previously, but I wanted to share my experience at his interment in Arlington National Cemetery. It was an impressive and solemn event, well attended by over 250 people, including members of his military family, and the many people he has touched. People flew in from across the country, and around the world. One friend even came from Korea. From his resting place, there are views of the beautiful Potomac River, the Washington Monument, and the Capitol Dome. It was clear to me that this man has deeply touched many many people in his life, and his burial was both fitting and proper for man he was. I wish him peace and rest.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Alan was a sincere and good person, who always looked at people in the best light. I met Alan in Washington, D.C., and had the pleasure of his friendship. His awareness of the importance of life, and the value and dignity of people was refreshing. His death is this world's loss. He was a bright point in this life.

I served with Al during his first deployment for OIF and he is unforgettable. He was a sincere leader and one of the most talented young officers I have ever met. Dedication and service were his watch words and he always sought and found opportunities to make things better. May God bless his soul.

Alan and I met three years ago in Miami, and had since shared an immensely strong bond. I don't think I ever met anybody that was so intelligent, funny, and altruistic as Alan was. He was a great speaker and writer. He looooved to party and loved music (Lighthouse Family - High). I think the highlight of his last summer in Greece had to be when he met Frankie Knuckles (contact me if interested). As many people have previously mentioned, Alan was the type of person that touched you, regardless of who you were.
Dave Valcourt couldn't have said it better: "If you knew him; you were his friend."
Some people come and go in life, but not Alan--he had a gift for touching people.
Alan was like a brother to me. And though I didn't always follow his advice; I definitely thought about it. Alan once told me that we were all responsible for our own actions...--he's the only person to this day that ever convinced me of that.
Alan was one of the few people I know that were able to hold their own weight in a range of conversational topics including music, traveling, literature, human interest, law, politics, management, culinary arts, fashion, and business. Alan was able to substantiate any argument eloquently, clearly, and simply. I've always marveled him for that (among other things) quality.
I would really like to get in touch with some of you that knew him stateside.
