God bless all of the brave heroic men and women in the United States Military, serving in the United States Armed Forces that have faithfully defended this nation. We salute you for your service. They are truly heroes, serving in our nation´s military and they have sacrificed so much to protect our country and all us. All of these pictures were captured at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

To the family of SFC Collin Bowen:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless and keep you always.

Its been so long. I was with the 175th before I went active and SFC Bowen was a good man. I remember when he and a couple other troops took me out for my birthday one year and we had a good time. I am sorry to hear that he have passed on like this. He truly was a good man and a good soldier. I send my regards to the Bowen family.

To SFC Collin Bowens Family,
I am so sorry for the loss of this great American . I will never forget his sacrifice. In Sept. I was in D.C. for The White House Commission on Remembrance. It was a wonderful tribute to our men and women who have lost their lives in the Global War on Terrorism. They had a screen with all the names who have lost their lives and I took a picture of Collins name. I would be happy to send you a copy.
We were also able to visit Arlington National Cemetery and Collins gravesite. It was a very beautiful place.
I tell you all of this because I want you to know I will never forget his sacrifice. I think of him and the others in Grant County who have lost their lives, so that we can live free.

As the mother of a soldier stationed in Baghdad I share the pride you have in your loved one, a hero who gave the ultimate price for his family, his country and those of us he has never known. May God hold him close to His heart and you who mourn in his arms.

We extend our prayer to you and your family at this time. We are grateful that your love one thought enough of us, to serve and protect us. Doing so, the ultimate price was paid. And for this, we say, "THANK YOU, WARRIOR. We will forever be grateful. We may not remember all the names one by one, but we will remember the warriors. All that paid the price, that we, could be free.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your soldier. I know there are no words that help at this time. I cry for them all. I lost my son Sgt Alex van Aalten in Sangin Afgh so I know how much it hurts. Thses men will never be forgotten. They are heros!

Dear Bowen family, I am truly saddened by this news. I live in Indianapolis and this morning was just going thru the local news emails and came upon the link of an Indiana Soldier passing and of course I had to view it. I opened the link and it was the picture of Collin with his helmut on so I really couldn't see his face that well. I then came upon his picture in his dress blues and couldn't stop staring at it. I honestly thought the name sounded familiar but the face kept me looking. I sat there and looked at Collin's face for 20 minutes and then it hit me. Twenty years ago Collin and I were in the same unit at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. I think I was 17 and he was 18. We hit it off right out of the gate. Two Indiana boys away from home. I specifically remember Collin being a horrible dancer and a somewhat decent wrestler. We used to wrestle any time we had a five minute window. He was a very funny man, and although he was the shortest in our unit, he made up for it because I remember him having one of the biggest hearts. I truly am sorry for your loss, and myself and my family will keep you close to our hearts. May god bless you and just know that millions of americans knew that those men and women were there for a reason, and we clearly understood what they stood for.

Our deepest sympathies for your loss. Thank you for the sacrifices your family has made. Collin is a hero in the hearts of so many. By his service to our country, he has touched an unbelievable number of people he didn't even know. He is with God and looking down upon your family, continuing to protect them. We will keep you and your family in our prayers. Please continue to pray for the rest of the men and women serving our country.

To the Bowen family,

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Collins'' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.

...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

I can't even find the words...I lost my 19 year old son--5 Sept 2007, Balad, Iraq. I am absolutely devastated and I know that you are too...but find comfort in the fact that we will see our loved ones, our heroes again. Do I wish that I could trade places with my son? ABSOLUTELY not. He is in the arms of our Lord--"And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away" ~Rev 21:4
What a wonderful thought...

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

Father we entrust our brother Collin to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Collin in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathy.
