Dayne D. Dhanoolal Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 4, 2008.
On the day Dayne D. Dhanoolal died, his wife, Kynesha, checked her e-mail and read the last message he would ever send. "He told me, 'Kynesha, I'm OK, I've just been real busy.' He said, 'I love you.' It was the last thing he said. Then three hours later, he died," she said. Dhanoolal, 26, of New York City, was killed March 31 in Baghdad by a roadside bomb. He was assigned to Fort Benning. "He was the type of person that left a happy memory wherever he went. No matter the situation he always tried to make the best of it," said his sister, Darlene Dhanoolal. "We will forever remember his gigantic grin." Dhanoolal emigrated from Trinidad with his family when he was 15 and settled in Brooklyn, where he played soccer and enjoyed his Xbox. "He was the greatest person I ever met," said his wife. "To know him was to love him. He didn't have an enemy in the world. He was simply the light of my life." Kynesha Dhanoolal said she and her husband spoke all the time about having children. Now she hopes to conceive his child through artificial insemination. "Having kids is all we talked about," Dhanoolal said.

It is May already, and over 2 yrs since you went to Heaven. You are so missed. Your Dad and I talk about you every single day Darren. We laugh out loud when we talk about your laugh and how you effected us all. I still see you kick off your shoes and slide with your socks on to my refrigerator, " literally" and say " I am getting me a Heinekin". lol You know you were at home at our house. It will be our joy when we get to heaven and see one another again. You are so missed!!! Love Mom & Dad

It has your Trinidadian flag, 3rd ID flag, your favorite red Yankees cap, and lots of your pictures...oh and your citizenship. On March 31st we're unvailing a gold plate that's being mounted at the bar of your favorite restaurant "Spices Carribean Restaurant" in your honor at your favorite seat. You will never be forgotten. Everyone loved you so much and we talk about you every single day. I wish you were still here! You made my life so happy with your presence. Thank you for being the best husband ever! I LOVE YOU!!

Darren,

They had an awesome memorial in FT. Hood on the 21rst of May and your wifey Kynesha flew there to honor you and she said your name was put on a monument right on the base at Ft. Hood. She said it was so pretty. There were other wives of the fallen along with their children. She said it was hard for her and she was alone, so it had to be hard for the wives with children. She then went out to the cemetary to visit your grave. The military gave her a personal excort there to assist her. She was so glad that she went. WE told her the next one that they have we are gonna go too. We want you to know you will never ever be forgotten Darren. WE love you and miss you so much. Kynesha was so glad that she was there Darren. She said she was always there for you and you could always count on her and that will never change. We had another Memorial Day BBQ and yes your Dad made all your favorite foods. We talked about you and how much you enjoyed his cooking. WE also watched the video of you and Chuckie too. We laughed so hard because you two were being real commedians. (smiles) Below is a pic of your Dad & I and also one of Kynesha and of course we can;t leave Barkley out. I know you remember Barkley. You played with him when he was just a puppy. TW is still in Italy, but he speaks of you often too. Well you take care son, and know that your missed forever. God Bless You Darren. Love Mom & Dad, Kynesha & Barkley

Hello brother,

It's been a little over a year now. I still cannot believe that you are gone. I see your pictures and can still hear your laughter echoing through the hallway. You're the only person I have ever known who is able to find humor in every situation; I still remember you could even find humor when everyone around you was griping. There were very few times that your laughter was silenced and I knew those were the days when we had to pull together the most because things were surely bad. I know you and Carlos are sitting up high and laughing year round. I am saddened that it seems those of us who shine the most are being taken from us so quickly. You are a beacon of laughter and life and I will always miss you. I am coming by to see you soon. Your friend and brother always....

HELLO SON, I JUST WANT TO TELL YOU THAT WE ARE THINKING OF YOU AS USUAL... WE MISS YOU SO MUCH. WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BIG BBQ ON MEMORIAL DAY. YOU KNOW EVERYTIME WE HAVE A BBQ YOUR DAD REALLY HAS A HARD TIME BECAUSE HE KNOWS HOW MUCH YOU LOVED HIS COOKING. HE ENJOYED IT TOO, BECAUSE YOU DID. YOU KNOW, AFTER WE MET YOU AND YOU BECAME A PART OF THIS FAMILY, THAT IS WHEN YOUR DAD WOULD GO ALL OUT FOR HIS BBQ'S. ONLY BECAUSE YOU SHOWED YOUR APPRCIATION FOR HIS COOKING. I CAN STILL SEE YOU IN THE KITCHEN LIFTING THE LID ON THE POTS AND SMELLING THE AROMAS. YOU WERE SUCH A JOY TO HAVE IN OUR LIVES DARREN. WE WISH YOU WERE NOT TAKEN FROM US. WE HAVE TO KNOW THAT GOD CHOSE YOU FOR A REASON, BUT WE STILL WISH YOU WERE HERE WITH US. WE LOVE YOU AND I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW IT. I WILL WRITE MORE LATER. OK? MISSING YOU EVERYDAY. Hello my hero, It's been over a year now since you were taken from me. I think of you every single day. I recently went to Texas to visit you on the 1 year mark of your passing. I still can't believe you're gone sometimes. I find myself often looking at funny videos of you and all of our pictures together. It helps to hear your voice...although i'll never forget it. I miss you so much Darren. Everything is so different without you here. The world isn't the same without you in it. Alot of your friends keep in contact with me to see how i'm doing once in a while, they all really miss you. You meant the world to all of us! I still remember (Dec.26,2007) the last day I saw you when you were going back to Iraq from your r&r and about to get on the plane. I would've never thought that would be the last time i'd ever see, hug, or kiss you again. I cherish all the time I had with you. I know someday we'll be together again in heaven. You are forever in my heart. And i'm so glad you chose me to be your wife! I was so blessed to have you as my husband. I LOVE YOU!!!!

DEAR SON,

WE CAN HARDLY BELIEVE THAT IT HAS BEEN ALMOST A WHOLE YEAR SINCE WE LOST YOU TO THE WAR IN IRAQ. IT HURTS OUR HEARTS DEEPLY JUST NOT HAVING THE SOUND OF YOUR LAUGHTER AND TO SEE THAT HUGE SMILE YOU ALWAYS SEEM TO SPORT. KYNESHA AND I WILL BE GOING TO TEXAS SOON TO VISIT YOUR GRAVESITE. WE SURE WISH IT DID NOT HAVE TO BE THIS WAY. BUT KYNESHA IS GOING TO SOON TRY AND HAVE YOUR CHILD AND IF GOD ALLOWS IT TO HAPPEN THEN WE WILL GET THE OPPORTUNITY TO ONCE AGAIN SEE THAT GREAT BIG SMILE OF YOURS AGAIN. GOD KNOWS BEST SO IT IS ALL IN HIS HANDS. WE ARE ALL DOING ALRIGHT AND I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT WE LOVE AND MISS YOU MORE THAN ANY WORDS COULD EVER EXPRESS. HERE ARE A FEW MORE PICS, THEY SURE BROUGHT BACK MEMORIES. GOD BLESS YOU SON, AND MAY HE CONTINUE TO WATCH OVER YOU IN HEAVEN. HUGS & KISSES LOVE MOM & DAD IN LAWS IN GEORGIA
