Yesterday we had a walk/run for the fallen soldiers of Missouri. We were all given names of fallen soldiers and my daughter was given Michael's name. I just want to say that with every step we took we took in gratitude for this man who gave his life for all of us. THANK YOU MICHAEL PATTON for serving your country and making this world a better place. We love you and were TOTAL HONORED to walk in your name. May love, peace and happiness always surround your family.

Terry and Family,
I just want you to know that Michael is not forgotten. When we have the horrible task of burying our children the biggest fear that follows is that someone or everyone will forget what an amazing person they were. Well I am here to tell you, from one heart broken mother to another, we have not forgotten your son! I pray for him all the time and think of him with every flag I see. I hope you are having more good days then bad and you are finding some peace. It is so hard to live this reality. But on this anniversary I want you to know we are and do, think of your son!

PFC. Michael Patton thank you for your service to our Country. Our thanks cannot be adequately expressed for your exemplary actions in defense of our Country and the safety of our citizens.

Our loved one is currently headed towards his U.S Marines duty station in Afghanistan in April 2010, and we thank you for your personal contributions to make that land safer for all those who are and who will be serving in that distant land following your service.

Because of that, we owe you a different debt of gratitude for your service, and I thank God for you and your service to others for leading the way in Afghanistan, and that we may humbly complete the work you started. Thank you.

Follow The Rainbow To Heaven.
=======================================

A Soldier had die out on the
battlefield;

Broken hearts are weeping For
Them,

But take comfort of knowing
that God had sent Them a
rainbow from heaven;

The Souls of the Soldiers
have gone to there home
in heaven,

Our Loved One's has follow
God's lovely rainbow in the
sky;

All the way to the end of the
sky.

That leads all the way to the
other end of the Lord's
house in heaven,

So just keep on praying and
trust that God will send us
that same rainbow in the sky;

Where Our Loved One's are
waiting For You and For Me at
the end of the rainbow in

To the parents of PFC Patton, Michael,R.
I am a fellow marine mom who just put my only son on an airplane to Oki. for two years. As much as my heart aches for him it does not compare to the lose you have suffered. I cry with you Marine mom! I wish for you to get ahold of me, as I have a gift for you, to honor your son. I am a member of the Arbor Day Foundation and for the last two years I have had the privilage of having trees planted in honor of any two people I choose. Last year I choose two local MO. Warriors. It breaks my heart to see your son on the list of fallen this year. So, if you would give me the honor, I would love to dedicate one of my two trees to Mike. Please contact me. Dear Family of Michael,

I want you to know that when I look at the face of your beautiful son, I am moved deeply. I wish that he had lived, and laughed and had a full life...one that any young man deserves. I wish that he had survived this war, this madness. He was brave, he was true, he was a Marine and his death should be mourned because we have lost another wonderful young man, filled with potential and life.

I am the proud daughter in law of a marine captain. I am proud of the Marines, their history, their heritage, their devotion to duty, to honor, to country. I wish that we, all of us were as devoted to them as they are to us, so that war is the last alternative, not the first...so that it is the last resort...so that mothers and fathers and sisters, brothers, friends and families do not have to weep, to wail, to wish the pain away.

Your son is a hero. He is a hero because he lived honorably...he makes all proud. Not because he is a Marine, but because he was a man and a Marine.

May his name be blessed, always.

Shalom

I wanted to let you know that your son is a true hero. My son, Michael, just graduated Marine boot camp on Oct. 31st, and reports for Advanced Infantry Training in San Diego on the 18th. He turned 18 in boot camp. I do not know where he will be after that. I am new to the Marine Family, but have found that we are all family. When I read about your Michael, I felt a tie since my son is Michael too. I just want you to know that your son is not forgotten, and his service to our country as a United Stated Marine shows your son's integrity, honor, and pride. You and your son are in my prayers.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadnes, joy.

O Divine Master
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Michael, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

July 9, 2008

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I would also like to tell you about a website, http://groups.msn.com/SSPSoldierPor
traits/homepage,
where some wonderful people will make wood portraits of your fallen Hero for free for the immediate family. I became aware of this site when I wanted to do something special for Le Ron’s mother.

Terry and Family,
Terry I am so sorry for your pain. It is a pain I never wanted to ever see in a friend's eye beyond my mirror. But with the loss of your son, I know what you now see in the mirror too. I never got the honor of meeting your son but it has been a honor to know and work with you over the years so I know he had to be a wonderful child. I also truly appreciate his service to our nation and I am sorry he died in the line of duty.
Terry, I don't see the loss you and your family are going through as the loss of a soldier, I see it as the loss of your child. Anna's cousin, who she loved so much. He was a regular guy whose claim to fame was being a Patton long before he was a Marine. He was the kid that smiled as he walked in the kitchen each morning and told all of you that he loved you each day. That is what I am sorry for, the loss of what made life normal. The little things. Terry, I know what you may be feeling and the feelings to come and I am here 24/7 if you need someone to call or someone to just sit with you who understands. I miss Samantha every breath I take and now I pray for both of them every time I pray (and I pray a Lot!). Keep going, put your feet on the floor every morning and breath and thank the lord for the gifts you (we) had with them because those are all ours! Life may have taken tomorrow but nothing can take yesterday from us.

July 3, 2008

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Patton Family,
I would like to add my most sincere condolences to you on the loss of your son Michael. I know the pain you are going through. I lost my son, L/Cpl. Carl L. Raines, II on 10-06-2005 to a roadside bomb near the city of Al Qaim, Iraq. Three years have almost passed and not a day goes by that I do not think of how much I miss him, or wonder what, how, or why. Don't beat yourself to death. Think of the good times and those special moments that you shared with each other. The special days(birthdays, holidays) will be difficult, but just remember the happy times you had with Michael on those days.
I was also a member of 2/7 in Vietnam(1968-1969). R.I.P. Brother! Semper Fi!

To the family and parents of Michael I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you.

Father we entrust our brother Michael to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
May God hold Michael in the palm of His hand. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. My deepest sympathies.

Thank you for the love and guidance you have given to your loved one that he would give his life as Christ did for the love of others. I pray God will bless and keep each of you in his tender care and give you peace. Only God can heal your broken hearts and bring you peace. Please remember the apreciation we all have for the commitment of these dear ones who have laid down their lives for others and for our nation and even for these other nations which so much need our prayers, as well. Mike Patton was like a brother to me. We "grew up" in the Marine Corps Delayed Entry Program together and just late last year had discovered at Hollywood Video in 29 Palms, CA that we were both stationed on the same base. A memory from that night was that he and Amy needed to use a credit card number in order to open a video account and I had absolutely NO hesitation what so ever to let them use mine...afterall he was my brother in arms and I knew I could trust him. Then, in early April I ran into Mike and Amy again inside the PX on base. We talked for a little while and I let them know that if there was EVER anything I could do for them that I was just a phone call away. Well, they called me only a couple hours after that asking me if it was okay for them to stay at my apartment before Mike left. This would've been the couple days they had left with each other before he deployed so again, WITHOUT HESITATION, I agreed and welcomed them into my home. Sometimes it haunts me to think that the last place Mike slept before leaving for Afghanistan was here. I would just like to say that Mike and Amy I am still 100% here for both of you and it still goes that if there is ever anything I can do I will do it! RIP PFC Mike Patton. I love you brother!

Lance Corporal Liz La Rue

To the Patton family and Amy:

I knew Mike a little bit; he was in my Spanish II class. We also played Halo 2 many a night online together with Lucas Schlemmer. I'm deeply saddened by this whole turn of events, but I'm honored to know that I knew this great man, this Hero amongst men.

I'm honored to have been able to be in his presence for the visitation and services. I'm also honored to have been able to meet his parents and to know Amy and her family.

I set up a small memorial at my work in Mike's honor; know that he is in the thoughts and prayers of everyone that works at Arnold Kohl's. It's the least I could do for him. And if there's anything I can do for either family, just let me know.
