Dear Joel & Jenny Madrazo,
We are so sorry for your loss, but rest assured that Nicholas is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Nicholas will be remembered by not only his friends and family, but his comrades as well. Jim Morrison and I have a little bit in common with Nicholas. We both graduated from Bothell High School - class of 1964, we are both Veterans Im a Marine as well, and we both fought in the Vietnam war.
As you may have heard, Jim Morrison and I have been working with the Northshore School District for the last three years in an attempt to find a way to honor all of the students who went through the school district and died while in the service of their country.
We have finally accomplished that, and on May 27, 2019 there will be a military type ceremony at Pop Keeney Stadium in Bothell. A granite memorial with all the names of our fallen classmates engraved on it will stand directly in front of the stadium main gates, and the name Nicholas Madrazo will be one of the names we will be honoring at that ceremony.
We also put together a video of our fallen classmates. Its not finished yet, because its going to include some video of the actual ceremony on May 27, 2019, but in the meantime thought you might like to see a few of Nicholass comrades we will be honoring.
Semper Fi, and God Bless both of you!

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Madrazo Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Nicholas,
I served as an officer in the airborne battalion of the French Marine corps that was located with you at Nijrab.
I remember the several patrols we did together in this part of Afghanistan.
I remember your happiness and your pride to fulfil this demanding mission.
I remember the quality of your human relationships with French or Afghan soldiers.
I don't forget you. I will keep in mind your faith as a benchmark in my life.

Nicholas worked for Me at the G-6 Staff, 3d MLG in Okinawa when he volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan. He was sopposed to come work for me as one of my Platoon Commanders upon his return, as I took command of Communications Company, 3d MLG. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about Nicholas and what a smart, always positive, gifted young Officer, Marine and Man that he was. He is greatly missed by all that he came in contact with. I will never forget him and he will always be one of my Marines! Semper Fi Nicholas!

On this Memorial Day, my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to Nic's family and friends. I am truly thankful for his service to our nation and the Marine Corps. I was one of his entry-level communications instructors, prior to him going to Okinawa. I will always remember this fine man's positive attitude and spirit of humility. I also had great time playing basketball with him during our many lunch breaks. He was always a threat on the court; the guy you wanted on your team. He was a great hustler and shooter! Thank you for allowing him to be apart of my life, serving our country, and leaving me with great memories. I am forever grateful for knowing and serving with him.
God Bless and Semper Fidelis,

To the Madrazo Family,
I went to both Junior and Ssenior High school with Nic. He was never a close friend, but always a warm and caring soul. The kind of person that never allowed Social Differences to stand in the way of respect and Compassion. Nic was always admired and respected when I knew him, and from what I've been able to read, he carried the same beautiful qualities into his life of service.
My Daddy served in the Marines; I was born a "Military Brat" at Camp Pendleton. When I found out about Nic's Passing, I was immediatly brought to tears for him, and over the course of an hour, I was strongly compelled to tell my Dad how lucky I know we were not to lose him, and how proud I am of him, and all the Service Men and Women who have dedicated their lives to our country, but mostly how lucky I am to have known a hero such as Nic.
You have my condolances, and I hope you somehow find solace where you can.

I want to express my deepest sympathies to your family. Not a day goes by that I don't think about you all. I had the pleasure of meeting you briefly in front of the PX in Hawaii right before the deployment and thought what a wonderful loving family Lt. Madrazo has. During the deployment he was always looking out for us families back home and making sure we were taken care of. He was a wonderful man and Marine. Lt. To the family and parents of Nicholas I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

To the Madrazo family, I want to express my deepest sympathy on your loss and may he rest in piece. 1st Lt Madrazo (Nick) I had a great time with you and Jesse watching football on Sundays and just hanging out enjoying the simple things life had to offer. Working along side with you in Hawaii was a great time, you always had a down to earth mentality about life and never let the job get you down. You will truly be missed.

Hi Uncle Joel and Aunt Jenny,
Just found this web page, again I would like to express my deepest sympathy to you both as well as Ian, Jared and Natalie.
I want to thank you both again for flying me to Seattle so that I could say goodbye to my cousin in person.
I remember talking to Nik about our cell phones, as he Natalie and Jared sat on the bed during our last Thanksgiving party in Kailua. I still recall that "awesome smile" he had it stands very vividly in my mind.
Nik was a great young man who was full of life and enjoyed it to the fullest, he was the he was because he had two great parents that raised him to what he became "An Awesome Inspiring Person."
Uncle Joel and Aunt Jenny, "Thank You" again! I hope to see you both when here in Honolulu in a week or so.
Love You Both!
Your Niece, Arlene

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to 1Lt. Nicholas Madrazo our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Nicholas. And to Nicholas it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made in combat while serving the Corps and his country. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Nicholas, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,405 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Nicholas’ family and loved ones. Semper Fi !
