Denise, As it is now coming up on the 5th year, Damian is always remembered. There is not 1 day passing by that Rebecca doesn't mourn for her ROTC Squad Leader. Everytime we're in Walmart, and she sees his picture, she cries and says she misses him. She loved her friend and always will remember him. Noelle Smith, mother of Rebecca McDonald OHS class of 2005

I was in Damian's unit and we were deployed together when the tragic event occured. I got the chills when I saw this website. Im not sure how many of you knew Damian but he was a great man! Always the life of the party, if you wanted to have a good laugh all you had to do was go knock on his door. He had no fear in anything he did (especially driving his mustang haha)and a great leader to so many. Thank you to all who show your support to the Garza family.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Damian, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Denise, Jaime, Jamie, and Justin,
I have been thinking about you so much and continuing to keep you in my prayers. It hit home again last week when we lost yet another New Mexico soldier from Clovis. He had only been at my home a month earlier when I gave him a blessing on his forehead and asked God to keep him safe. A few short weeks later we were mourning his death as well. Damian and J.R. Segura will be fast friends as they were very much alike with wonderful family values. God bless you all. We will see you next time you are in Clovis. Love, Miranda and Victoria

Jaime and Denise, you guys are the best parents anyone could ask for and Damian *always* told people that. If there was anything that Damian made very clear to people he met..it was that he loved his family very dearly. It's going be very hard *no doubt about that* but I know you guys will make it through. Remember all the memories you have with him.
You guys are in my prayers!!!
To all of Damian's Friends, he loved you guys very much too. I had a chance to meet you all and I know he wouldn't want any of you guys to be sad.
I love you guys and your all in my prayers.

To the whole Garza family,i am so sorry for your loss. You know that he loves you unconditionly and appericiates everything! I know that Damian was happy to fight for his country, that's all he ever talked about. He was/is hands down an all around AMAZING guy and everyone that he came in contact with him will say the same! It didn't matter what mood you were in, when you seen Damian's huge smile with those cute little dimples and loving eyes you just start to feel a huge smile coming over your face automatically, he had that big of an effect. Almost the same smile comes over my face when I hear a Creed song.

To the Garza family,
May God Bless Damian and his family, he will be in our hearts forever. I still can't believe that he is really gone! I remember when we were living in Borger, whenever Damian would stay over all the time with me. We would stay up until 4 or 5a.m. playing video games. It was fun, especially when my dad would come out in his tantaruns and tell us to go to sleep. Anyways, Damian i love you man. May God Bless You and you will always be remembered in this family, as a matter of fact i'm naming my son after Damian. He will be due on Dec.27, hey maybe he'll be born the same day that Damian was born.(Dec 31) Damian Levi Lujan is what me and my wife have picked out unless it changes anytime soon but for sure it will be Damian. Justin i noticed the other day that your looking exactly like your big brother. Watch out for all the ladies chasing you. Jamie, with you and your family, i can't wait to have my lil boy. Denise, I know Damian is really proud of you for being so strong. Jaime, i know Damian always looked up to you. Especially the fact that you can almost fix almost anything, that's why everybody would call you Magyver(however you spell it)and also you going through your back pains. He always know you were tough. Just always remember that he will be looking down and taking care of yall. Just like he did in Afganistan, he protected all of us, our country, his family, and his friends. We are all very proud of Damian. Once again, May God Bless Damian and the Garza family. Always remember that I love yall.

Damian,
It's been just over one month that you were taken away and I finally am able to get myself together to view your guest book. You were such a joy to us, you always made us laugh and even now when I think of you I cry and smile at the same time. There are so many great memories that I have in my heart, yet so much pain from losing you..I am so very proud of you. You accomplished so much in very little time-you truly are a Hero because you lived your life doing what was right even when no one was looking. You were brave and fought for what you believed in--that has made you a Legend. You are a true American Hero. I miss you and I love you very much..love,
ME (Rosalinda Hollars)
To Jaime and Denise, I want to thank you for being such great parents, not just to Damian but to Justin and Jamie as well. You guys had such a big part in raising such an awesome young man. TO THE GARZA FAMILY FROM LUIS Y LALA DELGADO. WE LIVED IN CLOVIS, NEW MEXICO FROM 1972-1985. THE FOLKS FROM CLOVIS ALWAYS MADE US FEEL AT HOME. WE LEARNED TO LOVE NEW MEXICO AS MUCH AS EL PASO, TEXAS. WE DID NOT KNOW YOUR SON DAMIAN J. GARZA. WE DO FEEL YOUR SORROW AS WE ALSO LOST A DAUGHTER AT THE AGE OF 28. THE PARENTS FEEL THE GREAT LOSS FOREVER. IT DOES NOT GET BETTER WITH TIME BUT THERE IS A RELIEF THAT THE "BIG GUY" IS WATCHING OVER DAMIAN IN HIS KINGDOM. MAY YOUR GOOD MEMORIES OF DAMIAN CONTINUE TO FLOURISH IN YOUR HEARTS AND REMEMBER HIM AS THE SON HE WAS.

Just know that although he was from Texas that he touched the lives of people everywhere.

I want to send out my deepest sympathy for your family. My family knows the hurt and pain you are going through. My brother Spc. Robert Arsiaga was killed April 4, 2004 in Iraq. This is where they wanted to be, and this is what they wanted to do. I never imagined living my life without my brother, but now I imagine my life saying he is a hero. Your Damian too is a hero. Few people like them make a big impact on human life in such a short time. If they could be here a lifetime, I could only imagine how the world would be. My family thanks you for your sacrifice, and we thank you as well Damian. A quite somber quote we recieved as a condolence,"Rest In Peace Soldier, Your Work Is Done."

He took great pride in being a soldier and was enthusiastic about his future in the military. He was a great American and soldier. Anyone who has served with him will tell you the same. There are few people that have touched my life the way he has. You don't meet people like Damian often, but when they come along they leave a mark. I have lost a brother.
I will never forget you Garza,

My heart goes out to Damian's family. No words to express the sorrow of his loss. I remember Damian as a happy little kid when he lived in Clovis. Always smiling. Damian left us, but is in our hearts forever. God Bless him and his family and may God give them the strength to get through this pain. He was a brave little ranger. Thank you for sharing him with us.

i went to school with Damian. He was a good friend of mine. We lost touch after he moved to Odessa, but he was always in my thoughts. The way he could always make you laugh will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Damian was my little cousin, I didn't get a chance to see him before he went into the Army, because I was also deployed. My deepest sympathy goes out to my his Mom & Dad and also to my Aunt, Damian's grandma. She was so proud of him. Always talking about the funny, good side of him and always knew how to make someone smile. He will keep God smiling, but he WILL be missed. May God bless him and give his family the strength to carry on.
