Dear Brother Joe,
Summer has been crazy here in Dallas, TX; but I walked on your behalf back in May for Memorial Day. Something I do reflecting on you, and everyone that came into those ER doors in Mosul, IQ.
Today, off all times, I had to fill out a VA form reliving being out there and see your aunts message. Talk about NOT ready for that message. I'm bawling. I will be reaching out soon to her and I pray you are with me to find the words to speak to your family because as much as I want to say the right thing, I'm going to fall apart. Just be with us when that time comes. Ms. Hernandez, thank you for kind words and contact information. I will reach out soon.
With highest respect,
Felicia (Chavez) Rosado

On behalf of Joseph's family, we thank you for all of your thoughts, prayers, and kind words. I will make sure his parents and brothers see all the messages that have been posted here.
It has been almost 17 years now since Joe's passing and there isn't a day that goes by that we don't think of him. It hasn't been an easy road for our family, friends and his comrades, his loss was felt deeply by every person who knew him and by those that didn't know him. We continue to share his story about his life, especially his dream of being a soldier. He lived his life exactly the way he wanted and for that we are forever grateful for his service and all the others who have served in the armed services for our freedom.
To Ms. Rosado: Your messages will not go unread. Please reach out to me, I'd like to put you in touch with his mother. Thank you so much for doing everything you did for Joe and we are grateful to you. Here is my contact information: https://www.instagram.com/mrsjhs2015/
God bless all of you!
Sincerely,
Margaret Hernandez

To Bobby - HS friend of "Joe". Thank you for reaching out to me and conversing with me. It's been almost 16 yrs of Cpl. Joseph Martinez's passing and closing my eyes I revert right back there. With sounds...smells of that ER.
Bobby...I can never repay you the kindness you showed tonight. It's been a very long void since his passing, for a comrade whom I personally never met before until those moments.
Cpl. Joseph...while not physically here...you've become a part of my life...part of my families lives. You ARE MY family and will always be remembered.
I have now a step in a direction in finding you and your family.
Continue watching over you Mom & Dad, your brother and the rest of everyone who knew you, your smile, and the pride you had in serving. May those memories never be forgotten.
With the highest respect and warmest regards,
Felicia Rosado

Dear Brother Joeseph,
It has been quite some time since I posted on here but you and your family are always in my prayers.

I'm sorry...flashbacks enter my head...and Im there.
I never knew you Joseph but know you are forever remembered and held close to my heart.
Hermanito...I hope you are at rest. I hope your family is well. Perdon a me.

Hi there
Im not sure who will read this, but I met one of cpl martinezs fighting brothers a few years ago in vegas. He gave me a bracelet that has all his info engraved into it. I have let it sit up on a shelf to display for many years. I am now wondering if this is something he wore? If so I think it would be special to give to his family or a close friend. So if anyone who looks here is a close friend or family and would like this momento of him please contact me. My name is Kelly I live in huntington beach ca, my email is [email protected] make the headline obvious I see the email please.. RIP your brave young man!

It will be 9 years this August. I'm trying to find your final resting place...to visit you. If anyone is reading this, can they help me. Please. Thank you.
Happy Memorial Day Brother!

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jospeh, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
