Hello,

We wanted you to know that we will be honoring and remembering your loved one this holiday season. We are sending Care Packages to our deployed troops in his name. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Michael P. Hodshire US Marine Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and many others who support our mission.

Mike was a great friend of mine throughout high school and during his time in the service. I miss you more than words can express. I would give anything to hear your voice calling me to reassure me that you were alright and doing well. I know that you are gone from sight, but you will always live in my heart. I will see you again in heaven. I think about you often and visit your grave site lots. I love you and miss you each and every day!

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Sgt. Hodshire was my squad leader i was a fire team leader at the time. He was an awesome Marine i had lots of respect for him , he was well known and always looked out for his Marines.He was always right in front of us leading us into battle, i will never forget you Sgt. You were one of my best friends in 2nd Battalion 2nd Marines, i should have reenlisted and went back over with ya. I'm sorry buddy and ill never forget ya.

Is hard to beleave a year has passed already. I seams like yesterday that we were in the locker room and in the gym preping for a football game. I know you will be looking down on me on my travel to Afghanastan in Febuary. You are missed by all. Rest in peace my brother in arms........

Remembering Sgt. Michael P. Hodshire, our sweet nephew and cousin. It's been a year now since Mike sacrificed his life fighting for our freedom, and there hasn't been a day gone by that we haven't thought about him. Mike loved serving his country as a Marine, and he is still and always will be OUR HERO.

We miss his sweet smile, and his visits when was home on leave. Mike would hit the road and he would make sure when he came through Camden that he would stop in and see Grandma & Grandpa Hodshire, his aunts, uncles and cousins. I'll never forget the time he stopped in with his new paintball gun, it was dark outside, but Mike and cousin Bradley had to go outside and play.......he was still a kid at heart, and that we will also miss. Mike had such a good nature and sweetness about him, along with the respect he had for everyone, answering questions with a "yes sir" or "no ma'am". These memories and more of Michael will always keep him alive within our hearts.

Continue to Rest in Peace Michael knowing there are still Great Men and Women fighting for our Country that you so loved. We pray for them each day that they will return home to their families.

I was lucky enough to serve under Sgt. Hodshire as a team leader. He was a great person and a great Marine, he trully loved his job, I loved his attitude and his approach to things. Sgt. Hodshire is legend among legends his fierce tenacity and valor will not be forgotten, he was the best leader, the best Marine squad leader i had in my four years. You will not be forgotten.

My daughter-in-law just e mailed us this web site. It has really been appreciated even though I read each one through tears. i had a dream about you today and we were both in California having fun and goofing off. We talked about how the East coast blew. When i awoke i came back to reality. I remember that you were upset when you fractured your leg and couldnt go with us. Now i'm out and just learned of your death. I know you died bravely. I cannot believe this has happened... I know it has been a while... but I just am still astonished... In knowing Mike he truly had me believing that he was living proof of the marine corps motto "ten foot tall and bulletproof"... His fiance Wendie and I grew close while the guys were away, and though I feel sorrow for his family, I feel the most pain for her and his two sons... Know you are and will continue to be missed Mike!!

I had the honor to serve with Michael in the first OIF and get to know him like a brother. He always knew how to make things bad be the funnest things. He was a wonderful guy and very dedicated to his job and marines. We will all miss him greatly but we will never forget him.

Our son is serving in the same company as Michael. We did not know Michael personally but we have heard so many outstanding remarks about the sevice he rendered to our country. May our Heavenly Father's comfort guide you during this time. Our prayers are with all of you.

Although I never had the honor to meet Sgt. Hodshire, my brother, Sgt. Sean H. Miles, had been serving proudly with him since July in Iraq. I was fortunate to have met Sgt. Hodshire right before deployment at a party the were having for the company. My bf was his good friend. They were in the same company together. He was such a nice man. He is a true hero and will be remembered in our hearts forever.

I had Mike in a few classes during high school and I was a cheerleader when he played football. All I can say is he was a really great guy. Mike would always try to make you smile when you weren't and was always super sweet. You'll be missed a lot Mike.
