MERRY CHRISTMAS
JT sr
December 16, 2024
9 days til Christmas. Looking at your picture on the wall, right by the door. Always on duty and watching my ins and outs.
Remembering all of our Christmas's past.
You always ruled the menu: prime rib and strawberry cheesecake. Then it was you and I doing KP, with a glass of wine and a lot of laughs catching up. You still have a place at the table.
This last deployment of yours hasn't ended, and never will. With GOD's mercy, we'll be joining you. Love ya.

I was always on you to write when you were at Ranger Batt, or in the Box.
I guess your calls were even better, but I enjoyed mail call with you from time to time.
Now I have your letters.
I'm the one not writing these days, but you're always in my heart and thoughts.
You're not gone.....just still deployed.
One day I'll get called up, and join you.
Still my Best Buddy.

I can't believe it's been 15 years. Reading the notes on this page shows what a one-of-a-kind person you were and how much of an impact you made on so many people - including me, even though we never met in person. I smile as I read the comments about your humor and sarcasm; that's how Steve has always described you, too. Did you know then that all your teasing and jokes kept Steve's spirits up? Did you know that after you were gone, the example you set became a cornerstone? The years have not answered my questions, or made your loss less heartbreaking. But as time passes, the way you lived and gave your life has remained a solid cornerstone in our life. A reminder that friendship, loyalty, sacrifice, and honor are still the truest things; the things that never fade or die. Your courage and integrity in the face of the unknown is a legacy and anchor we've held onto even in the dark days. You are a beautiful and special person, Josh. And I'm looking forward to meeting you in person one day on the other side. Until then, thank you. You have my deepest gratitude and respect. Always. Love, J.

15 years have passed since Joshua Terando (JT) was taken from us. Josh was my brother in combat and he knew how to lead and keep you guessing with his quick wit. Terando helped me face my fears and showed me that right actions are important even when you lack the courage. He was brave and was full of humor. I was so blessed to have known him. I will always remember you and have deep respect and love for you. Thank you for helping me through those dark days of war. Love, Steve A/K/A SGT ROBO

This year it will make 11 years since we lost you JT. 11 years since you valiantly gave your life to protect ours. Every year on this anniversary of 9-11 I will not only honor those that lost their lives on that very day but will honor those people we lost as a result of this date years later. I've said it before and I will say it again, you put a face on the war and made it so real it hurts. You and every other service person are the true heroes.

Though I never knew you personally, you will forever be a part of my life. You helped save the life of the man that holds my heart and for that I will always be grateful. Thank you just doesn't seem enough for your service, sacrifice, and commitment to fellow soldiers. Your memory will continue to live through those that love you! Gone but never forgotten.

Today we remember all of our fallen, a thing we should be doing every single day. I am remembering JT not just for being a fallen hero but being a great human being. Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Joshua, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Dear Family of Sgt. Joshua A. Terando,
We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.
Very Sincerely
Frank G. Noyes

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I am Deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Sgt. Joshua A. Terando, one year ago today.
The price this young hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
May Joshua rest safely in the Loving Care of God and may the Peace of the Lord continue to be with the Terando family.
There will never be enough ways to humbly thank these heroes for their Supreme Sacrifice, my brother among them. KIA~Vietnam, 1967.
May you find Strength in your Faith,
Comfort in God's Love, and
Peace in knowing this country remembers Joshua's Sacrifice.
I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I cannot believe it has been a year already. I don't WANT to believe it has been. I speak for so many people when I say we miss you every day and are truly thankful for what you and the rest of the soldiers are doing for us. I know I am not alone and saying while you were not the kind of guy to smile about the courthouse being dedicated to you, you are the kind of guy that would like knowing your nephew and my children will thank you and all the rest for the sacrifice to make them safe in the future.
We love you JT and miss you all of the time.

To the Family of Sgt. Joshua A. Terando:
Your son's name, along with our sons, is forever together on a Memorial standing at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville, PA. Their dogtags hang together forever moving with the wind creating a subtle sound, like the quiet whispers of the Fallen as they continue to speak to us. Attending this Memorial Dedication and hearing your child's name being read along with ours, has prompted me to sign this soldier's guestbook.
If your child can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 as well and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for right now. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten . You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.

Josh and I were friends while I was at Ranger Batt. We had some unforgettable memories together there. I will always cherish those and remember him as the goofy "tornado" at Ranger Batt. Right now I am in Germany and am on my way back over to Afg. Josh will be with me and I know if anything should happen to me that I will have a great guy waiting for me up there to show me around. Thanks Jerry and family for the closure at the funeral, it was sadly needed. Josh's remembrance dogtag is with me and will be carried around my neck. I love and miss you tornado. RLTW.

I first met Josh in Ranger Battalion, he was on my team.
I can remember him smoking me one time when I slept in...I just had a cast put on my broken foot the day before....I had to wear that stinky thing (thanks to his smoke session he gave me) for a month. He was such a crazy man, always with his facial expressions, and voices.
I miss him like crazy. I am glad that we were able to be together as brothers at the funeral. Jerry, we all needed closure, we all needed that time in his backyard.Thank you. I know Josh is looking down at us. He is in a better place. He is my hero and always will be. I love you Scumpy!

I served with Josh for a little over a year at Ft. Benning. He was my good buddy. I was fortunate enough to get to hang out for a weekend a couple of weeks before he took off to Iraq. A lot of guys that got called back didn't even show up. Josh left a good life and went to do his duty because that's the type of guy he was. I'll miss him deeply and cherish all of the good times we had. That's the way he would want it. He's probably making God laugh right now. I love you Josh.

It seems like just yesterday I saw you, yet so suddenly you were taken away. I know we were only friends through my sister, but you were a great man and friend and I'm truly going to miss you. It seemed like when you were here I had all the time to see you again, and say goodbye. Now I'll never get the chance. I really wish I went to your farewell party, but it's too late to change that now. All I can do is hope that you're better off now, and look foward to that day I can see you again. To see that smile again, and to hear you laugh. Well it was more like you making us laugh. I'm honored and proud to have met you. You'll always be in our hearts-that you always were.
