Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Michael I. Edwards US Army Specialist.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

I did not know SPC. Michael I. Edwards. But I purchased a Geocoin that will travel from place to place dedicated to his Heroic Rememberance. It is a beautiful coin that will be starting it's journey in Colonial Heights, VA. and move from place to place as other geocachers find and relocate to another geocache all across the world. If you are not familiar with geocaching, go to www.geocaching.com to familiarize yourself. His geocoin trackable number is US99VP if you wish to see the coins travels. My son is a member of the 101st airborne screaming eagles and will be headed to Afghanistan next month. God Bless all our men and women in all divisions of the services.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Michael, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Hi Mike,
I never told you how much "WE" as a Company appreciated your support to our deployment. You were our only Soldier that was not a U.S. Citizen. (sorry i let that secret out, buddy).
I recall that you wanted to go to the Green Zone for a Citizenship class during Chirstmas 05. I thought you would get stuck down there and be alone for the Holidays, so I talked you out of it. Figured after the Holiday's you could get it done.
I sure didnt know that you would'nt get the chance.
So anyway, as you know.... The President made you a U.S. Citizen...
Congratulations, Mike. You proved to be more of a U.S. Citizen than most of the Americans I have met my entire life. They could all learn a little something about duty, honor and country from you.
We all miss you, Mike.

I am elated to have fallen upon this website. I was thinking of my dear cousin, and especially more today knowing that tomorrow is Veterans Day. I decided to search for fallen soldiers, just to see if Mikey's (as he was called by is family) name was on the list. My dear cousin, it is still hard for me to realize that I will not see you again, at least not in this lifetime. It is hard to say, but God has a better plan for you. Will think of you always especially on your Birthday. March 25., a few days after mine.

Mike, You were that friendly and smiling face every time I saw you. Always ready to share a story about a mission or about your family back home. You always brought a smile to my face when I would see you as a crew member on a flight I was about to take. You touched my heart and will forever be a smile on my face when I remember my time in Iraq. You were lost to this world too soon in life. May your family find peace in your memory. Thank you for being my friend.

I want you to know that Mike was one of a kind he always had a smile that said "if you only knew what I have been up to" and that would follow with a story. I have to admit I always enjoyed reliving those stories with him. I talked about him just yesterday along with the others. I miss them all! Thank you for sharing Mike with the Alaska National Guard family!!!

I am Deeply Saddened to learn of the loss of Spc. Michael I. Edwards, one year ago today.
The price this Fine Young Hero and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.
May Michael rest safely in the Loving Care of God and may the Peace of the Lord be with the Edwards family.
There will never be enough ways to humbly thank these heroes for their Supreme Sacrifice, my brother among them. KIA~Vietnam, 1967.

and He shall sustain thee."

May the Peace of God and your memories of Michael,

Mike,
You always put a smile on everyone's face, and were special to everyone who knew you. Whenever I think of you, I think of the mischief in your eyes that I know will be missed by everyone. You truly made the greatest sacrifice, and did it with pride to be serving your country. I can't fathom that kind of selflessness. Thank you.

Wow it all seems like a nightmare.. It cant be true. The last memory I have of you is when you came over all the time last summer. I would have barbeques and invite your family over and you guys would all come over and hang out. I remember the last one we had you were really sick throwing up in my side bushes!! I have known you since I was 14 years old.. You watched me get my liscesnce, date guys and find my true love and become a mother myself. You have always been there for me and my family when we needed help. I will miss you so much Mike. Our whole family thanks God for putting you in our life. You had a purpose here in this world, and I am just glad God made our family part of your purpose. We will miss you so much, but all I know is that your now in heaven and I will see you there. I LOVE YOU!!!!

To the family of Spc. Michael I. Edwards (HERO):
We do not know each other, will never meet, but will forever be united in the grief and loss of our sons. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and to a place where a memory brings a smile rather than only the tears that I know flow so easily right now.
I pray for peace to an end to this so that our remaining courageous service men and women can be brought home to their families.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!
