Rickey,
Brother February is the best and worst month every year for me!!! It is the month I grow a year older and the month I grieve over the thought of how you died and wonder why I could not help you. I know it is pointless for me to write as if you are going to read this. Brother after you died it was so hard for me to just go and see your family, but I got around to it and we all miss you tremendously!!! I LOVE YOU Brother!!!

Thank you Rickey for defending my Freedoms. It is because of great American patriots such as you that Americans continue to board airplanes with confidence and the people of this city can live without fear.
You will always be remembered with love and great pride by the grateful nation you served to protect.
Rest in peace.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

I guess i will call this my life with out Sgt. Rickey Jones. A hero yes. A great hearted person yes. The funniest and most mean person you could find all at the same time. These are the things i miss most about my brother. I miss all the laughs and the fights and the nights at the VFW, but the one thing i miss the most is knowing my brother is not here to talk to me if i need him. Knowing that my Best Man cant be with me me on my big wedding day. This is the hard things that come with death. But put all that aside easy huh? dunno it comes and goes. But what helps me out is knowing what my brother did for you and i. He put his life on the line just for us. Hes more of a man than any of us for what he has done. SGT. RICKEY JONES i miss you man and will never forget you. Your my HERO. I know your always with me and i am always with you.

I grew up with Rickey from the time we were playin in Gene and Pogo's sand box till the day he left for boot. Rickey was a hell of a lot closer to me than my real brother was sadly but we had a lot of good times. Digging holes and starting fires that we couldnt put out and putting lug nuts on backwards on his moms car and havin the tire fall off a few hours later. We stayed in touch through his boot, and his 1st tour in Iraq and some time after that I left for boot myself to join the Navy. I got the news after battle stations from a Lt. Commander who was a chaplain. Not being able to come home, and graduating a few days after hearing still I couldnt do anything but be pissed. I'm proud of his family and friends here who still make it known that Rickey is a hero who loved children and had a positive impact on a lot of us even being so far away. I just wish I could have told him I graduated boot and was on my way to becoming what I've always wanted to be. In early '07 I'll be deployed as a PC Bravo Crew member in the persian gulf and I wish I could let him know that I'm serving my country. Miss ya bub. ENFA Smith, K.M.

Psalm 23
1
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
2
He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3
He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock! And that we now know our "Guardian Angel" personally!
My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

To Rickey's family you are in my thoughts and prayers always. I had the priviledge to know Rickey from 5th grade to present. We dated on and off through out those years and I really go to know the real Rickey. I can remember all the times we would jump on the trampoline or the times that we would all jump in the car and go to Chi Chi's...oh the good ole days. I won't ever forget when Rickey came to visit me in college after he returned from his first tour to Iraq. He came back as a grown man, a man who was not only proud of himself, but proud of his country and proud to be serving for it. I have really struggled with his death, but realize he died doing what he was the most happiest doing, and is now more alive than ever before. My heart goes out to you Tenia and Michael. You guys were always special people in my life and will always remain special people. I love you guys!

To the family and friends of Sgt. Rickey Jones:
I am so sorry for your loss. I know that words can never help with the grief and sorrow you feel, for I am grieving with you, for Rickey and for my fiancee Matthew Frantz. Matt was stationed with Charlie company in Hawijah and spoke very highly of the men in that company. I have no doubt that your soldier was the bravest and most honorable man. I wish I could say it gets easier, but it hasn't yet for me, I am only told it will someday. All I can do is pray for you all. Take comfort in the thought that he is in a better place, free from pain, suffering, and trouble. They are our soldiers and paid the most admirable price for our freedom!

To the family of Sgt Rickey E. Jones:
Words will never be enough and the emotions will always been overwhelming. My brother SPC Matthew C. Frantz was killed in action on January 20, 2006. On behalf of my family and a grateful nation, I would like to express my deepest thoughts and sympathy. Its not enough to tell you that I know what you're going through. Just know that he died for a reason. He died a hero. He died proud. Life will never be the same. Flowers will smell a different scent. The crisp morning air that you used to share will Rickey will taste different. You are not alone. Please find sollace in the fact that Sgt. Rickey Jones lived a life larger than just himself. Whenever you get annoyed or even angry with the protesters of the war, know that they are able to do that because of fine soldiers like your beloved Rickey. All of the "Im sorrys" wont mean much now, but in time they will bring you comfort.

Rickey is close to my heart. I personally was deeply shocked by his loss. You see, Rickey was a frequent visitor to our VFW post when he was home on leave. His mother is a member of our Ladies Auxilliary, and his grandfather (Ronnie Jones) is a life member of our Post. His grandfather is a close friend and buddy. This was the second time Rickey was deployed to Iraq. We honored Rickey when he returned from his first tour. This time we are honoring him in a different manner. This time it isn't nearly as enjoyable (to say the least).
Rickey was a great guy. He loved to come to our VFW post and play 8-ball with his buddies. He was a very dedicated soldier and very proud of being a member of the 101st Airborne. Rickey had just reinlisted before being deployed to Iraq for the second time.
Rickey's mother is a single parent. She has MS, and is having a rough time making ends meet. At our post meeting tonight, our membership voted to give her $2500 to help through her rough times. If anyone wants to help Rickey's mother, you may send a donation to VFW Post 1152, PO Box 651, Kokomo, IN, 46903. Make the check out to VFW 1152 and write a notation: For Rickey Jones Fund. I think Rickey's mom has suffered enough.

May God bring you peace in your heart as you reflect on all the wonderful memories you hold so close. Please know that you are in my heart and prayers. To the Family of Sgt. Rickey E. Jones:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
