Hello,

We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Emigdio Elizarraras US Army Master Sergeant.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,

Thank you for your superior dedication and super human like abilities in service to our grateful Nation. You and your 7th Group selfless sacrifices will always be my proudest witness in my life, in your taking the fight to our enemies. I hope to one day live up to your example and if not, continue to share with my children and others in how truly awesome and heroic you are. Another year has passed my brother, the only thing that I can do is to continue to leave messages for you here and to only hope and pray that you are able to see them and pass along the information to your God Son and our boy that we lost over 3 years ago...You are missed my friend....and time does not heal all. We have lost touch with Kris, so it seems as if we have lost touch with the memories of all of the times that we shared and spent together...Painfully we try and struggle through our lives and maintain as you would want us too...you are missed my friend, more than you will ever know. As you celebrate in heaven, please let our beloved son know that we still love him and miss him so very much...

My daughter turned six years old not long ago. As I watch her grow, I often think about your children. Although I'll likely never meet them, I still pray for them while I'm holding my daughter close and thanking God for her. While I wish I could say that I've appreciated every minute of my life for the gift that it is over these past nine years, I fear that far too often I allow myself to get distracted with the trivial problems of daily life.
I've slowly come to understand that because of you, I am more mindful of the gift of time and how quickly it passes. I'll continue to pray for your children every time I say a prayer for mine and I will try harder to honor your sacrifice by doing my best to cherish the days that will become tomorrow's memories.

To the family of MSGT Elizarraras:
This day is etched in my memory forever. I still wear the bracelet that bears his name and this date to serve as a reminder not only of his sacrifice, but also of the sacrifice his wife and 3 children made for our country.

EZ has been a part of my life from the day he was placed in my care by his brothers. I think about him and his family every day as I do my best to honor his memory by recognizing the blessings that have been bestowed upon me and by trying to make the most of each day I am given. Every day, as I find myself in the midst of everyday problems and “stressful” situations, I find myself touching the bracelet, keeping me mindful of the true perspective of things. Each night, as I put my 2 year old daughter to bed, I am keenly aware of how fortunate I am to be able to do so.

Often, late at night, I walk my floors and listen to my daughter and beloved wife breathing. At those times, I think about EZ and I grieve because he cannot do the same. In these moments the full weight of his sacrifice becomes so painfully clear. Then, as I often do, I pray for him and his family. I also pray to God that I am now, and will always be, a worthy beneficiary of EZ’s sacrifice and the sacrifice of the Elizarraras family.

To the Family of MSGT Elizarraras:
On the 28th of February 2006 I was the Flight Medic aboard a helicopter that landed on a dusty patch of ground to take him home. It is a day I will never forget. You should know that Emigdio was gently and reverently placed in my care by his brothers from his team. In the few minutes we all shared in the landing zone it was apparent that Emigdio was deeply loved and greatly respected. His journey with our crew and the ceremony we later participated in to pay our respects and send him home were events characterized by profound respect for Emigdio and the ideals for which he stood. To this day, I wear a bracelet bearing his name, the date, and the place where he became part of my life. It reminds me of what he sacrificed for us, the love and respect he earned, and the greater good he selflessly served. I think about Emigdio every day as I carry his name with me, just as I carried him on that day. Each day, he helps me to live honorably and reminds me of the price he and his family paid for the liberty & security my family enjoy.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

To the Elizarraras Family,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. I was one of the aircrew on the helicopter that started Emigdio's journey home. While on the ground I witnessed an act that will always be with me. An act of respect and of friendship, a farwell embrace between Brothers. It was a simple hug, but it communicated so much more. Though I never knew him through the writings of others I feel I have. His memory lives on.

To the Elizarraras familly, I have been in the same unit Ez was in since I arrived in Bragg over 4 years ago. From the day I first met him he struck me as a good man who would greet a stranger new to the unit, he was one of the first friendly faces I remember upon arriving to the unit. I was also deployed with him in afghanistan, and will forever remember the last time I saw him as he got ready to leave the safety of the compound, the news of his death struck me and the rest of the men at the base very hard, my condolences go out to the entire Elizarraras familly.

Psalm 23

1

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.

2

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

3

He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

5

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

6

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

This is a verse that I have found to be comforting to me during my husbands death. Remember that when it seems that no one else is round, God is still there with you! And he will be your rock! And that we now know our "Guardian Angel" personally!

My daughter,McKaLyne, and I send our heartfelt sympathy for your loss! God Bless this warrior, God Bless those whom serve freedom's cause! They are our true HERO's!!!!

It is always hard to hear about a fallen comrade in arms. I knew EZ as we were both instructors at School of the Americas, Fort Benning GA. He is in heaven with the same ambitions he had on earth. God bless the family of this fallen warrior. If there is anything I can do as a fellow Special Forces brother, and friend please reach out. It is a very sad day for me to hear this news. He is a warrior and will always share a place in my heart.

To the Family of Master Sgt. Emigdio Elizarraras:

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young man who gave his life so selflessly. We lost our son 12/1/05.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. They will never be forgotten, never able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your memories will sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away. God Bless this courageous soldier and his family.
