To the family of Spc. Shawn R. Creighton:
Please know that just as your loved one remains in your hearts and minds; his sacrifice, and that of your family, remains with the people he died defending. Words cannot express the gratitude we feel for his bravery and selflessness, or the heartache we feel for your loss. God bless you always.

To the family and friends of Shawn.
Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers today.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Shawn, but he is my hero.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

Please know how Deeply Sorry I was to learn of the loss of Spc. Shawn R. Creighton, one year ago.
The price this Brave Young Soldier and his family have paid for this country and for freedom, Will Never Be Forgotten.
May Shawn rest safely in the Loving Care of God and know that he is a True American Hero that will Never Be Forgotten. May the Grace and Comfort of the Lord continue to be with the Creighton family.
There will Never be Enough Ways to Humbly Thank these Young Heroes for their Sacrifices, my brother among them. Killed in action in Vietnam in 1967.
"Cast thy burden upon the Lord,
and He shall sustain thee."
~ Psalm 55:22 ~
May the Peace of God and your memories of Shawn, remain in your heart always.
May this give you comfort and strength through the difficult days. Hope is not only the light we carry within, it is also what often carries us through...

To the family of SPC Shawn Creighton. I am a proud member of the Patriot Guard and I wanted to thank you for allowing the PGR the privilege of honoring Shawn. The stories I heard of Shawn were touching. In so many ways, he is a hero. It has been said that the only true measure of one's life should be based on how many lives you touched. Please find some peace in knowing that, from what I saw and heard of your son, Shawn touched countless lives.
My husband is currently deployed (again) and I am retired from the Navy. I rode to Shawn's mission for both of us; my husband was with me in spirit as he always is.
May God bless you as you search for peace in the memories of how Shawn celebrated life and embraced his family and friends.
With great respect and admiration,
Kat Atwood

I learned about Shawn today. I have a 360 page and I usually write in my blog about things that I have learned about what's going on with the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Today I deidcated my entry to Shawn. I wanted to find a picture to include with my entry, and when I had difficulty I tried myspace. I viewed his myspace account and I feel like I really got a glimpse into his life. He has the same birthday as me, and every year, from now on, as I celebrate it I will think of Shawn. My heart goes out to you in this time of sadness. Please know that he has touched even a stranger's life.

To the Family of Spc. Shawn R. Creighton:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.

Shawn was a wonderful person, caring and giving to those in need even if he did not know them.
He and his family were there for my family when my mother died in November of last year. I'll never forget that for as long as I live.
It is some small comfort to know that there are angels like you in Heaven who are watching over the rest of us.
Rest in peace, Shawn.
To Donna and the rest of Shawn's family... I'm so sorry. Y'all raised a good boy. I know how hard this is for all of you. If any of you need anything or even just to talk, you know how to get in touch with any of us.
Brandy has my number.
