In your honor I was given the esteemed privilege to wear your dog tag during the 5th Special Forces Group 2022 Legion Memorial Run & Gun. I hope I represented your legacy well and I sincerely apologize for the cursing in the woods between stages 4 and 5. You are not forgotten.

Hello,
We apologize for being so late in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family. We want you to know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this holiday season and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo, service branch, rank and hometown of Daniel Weston Winegeart US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families, friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 2,800 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 240 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to you. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,450 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com. If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Daniel, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Two years gone now without you and the pain just doesn't leave us - it recedes - but never totally leaves us. We go on day to day with things that need to be done but the void that your passing left is always there. Dad and I know that you will never read any of these postings but it does help us to post them to you. Could actually feel you here in the house a couple weeks ago, it was a good feeling, like you were just around the corner but couldn't quite see you. Funny how those things happen...We love and miss you so very much...

God, make me brave for life: oh, braver than this.
Let me straighten after pain, as a tree straightens after the rain,
Shining and lovely again.
God, make me brave for life; much braver than this.
As the blown grass lifts, let me rise from sorrow with quiet eyes,
Knowing Thy way is wise.
God, make me brave, life brings
Such blinding things.
Help me to keep my sight;
Help me to see aright
That out of dark comes light.

IT'S VERY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT IT'S BEEN A YEAR ALREADY... YET WHEN I THINK OF DANIEL, THE HAIR ON THE BACK OF MY NECK STANDS AND MY HEART TWISTS JUST AS IF IT WERE FRESH. ON THE OUTSIDE LOOKING IN, IT'S EASY TO SEE HOW MANY LIVES WERE TOUCHED BY HIM, AND HOW AS OTHERS FILTER IN AND OUT OF OUR LIVES, THEY HEAR HIS STORY, AND ARE ALSO TOUCHED. IT'S LIKE HE'S STILL HERE, MEETING NEW PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER FORGET HIM, IF ONLY BY HEARING ABOUT HOW STRONG, AND FUNNY, AND FRIENDLY AND ENTHUSISTIC DANIEL WAS TOWARDS ANYTHING AND ANYBODY WHO GOT THE PLEASURE OF CROSSING HIS PATH.
DANIEL, WE STILL THINK OF YOU AND MISS YOU AS MUCH AS EVER. WE TALK OF YOU AS IF YOU WERE STILL HERE... BECAUSE IN EVERYONE'S HEARTS, YOU ARE.
October 19, 2007
A year has passed now and it never gets any easier. As a solider that served with Daniel and now back out here you walk by his old shop and even after a year hope to see his beaming smile once you walk through the door. I know daniel is watching over all of us and I know we will see him again when each of us have full filled our missions here.
To daniels family my heart goes out each day to texas and to you. I can not even begin to imagine the void that remains but know you are never forgotten just as daniel is never forgotten! There was not a soldier that was not touched by daniel in one way or another. His smile, his friendly ways, his ability to make others laugh, or even just a casual hello.... Everyone knew and loved him. We(others and myself) still watch videos and reminisce on the friendship that Daniel gave us all. Never one to judge and never one to try a cold shoulder Daniel is the epitome of a true hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

My heart was touched by the many wonderful/beautiful things written about you. Daniel you are my hero and you will NEVER be forgotten.
I send each of you a hug from the most inner part of my heart.
Love and Peace

I would like to express my/our sincere appreciation and sympathy to the entire Winegeart family. I had the opportunity to watch Daniel grow from a young agreesive 6th grade student/athlete into a fine young man. He was very well liked and had excellent manners ( a tribute to his upbringing and parents) He had such an infectious smile and attitude that you just knew one day he would make it big. He had such a string dedication and belief in family and values. His contributions to his country and service are to be commended. As it has been said "all gave some and some gave all" Daniel was a excellent example of dedication and perseverance. The fine outpouring of love and patriotism the community bestowed on the family and Daniel was overpowering.
As I was leaving the graveside I remarked to the 2 Generals that were there ( a major general and a 4 STAR.) "That it was a great acknowledgement to the family to have these 2 folks in our community paying tribute to the great hometown hero. There answers were that it was the least they could do to acknowledege and pay tribute to a fine patroit such as Daniel. He exemplified the a brave soldier as he put himself in harms way for us to live in this country and enjoy the freedoms that are affored us each and evryday. GOD BLESS US ALL

I believe I worked with Daniel's mother a long, long time ago in Bmt. and my boys went to school with him. My son, Zachary Lopez died almost 8 years ago and I wanted to say that I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I share the pain of loss as anyone who has lost a child does. I can't say anything that will make this heartache go away, but know that we are proud of your son's service and sacrifice defending the freedoms of the United States.

I just wanted to tell the family that I will be praying for them. Daniel was a good friend of mine and I will never forget him. He was always there to lend a shoulder to cry on or just there to cheer you up. I will miss him deeply.

What is it about Daniel that makes people smile when you mention his name? Was it his big smile, and his zest for life? I remember Daniel from his days at Kountze Middle School, and also at Brookshire Bros. I think Daniel would have been pleased to see the love and support given to his family. It was so heartwarming to see those in attendance Tuesday night when "Our Soldier Has Come Home," was spoken. Daniel lived about one-half mile from my parents in Honey Island, so I am very familiar with the beautiful outdoors that he so loved. We now have a special hero to watch over Daniel's beloved Big Thicket.

My condolences to the Winegeart family. Daniel was a special boy that we watched grow into a fine man. The last time I saw him he was here at the High School, I hugged him and told him to take care. I wanted to tell you know I am so proud of him wanting to serve his country. You raised a fine young man and our community has been blessed having him being a part of it. My prayers are with your family. Psalms 120:1 In my distress I cried unto the Lord, and he heard me.

I will always remember his sweet smile. He was a very sweet little boy and I watched as he grew into a very sweet young man. I was his third grade teacher and have many fond memories of him.

I only knew Daniel from his days at Brookshire's, but I've heard so much these last few days that I wish I had really known him. I feel so proud of his service to our country, and so mournful for the family who will forever miss him. May God bring you peace and comfort through these days that only He can get you through.

Although I knew Daniel as he progressed throughout his school years, my fondest memories of him are from his elementary years. I remember him as a blond, curly headed, fun-loving boy who possessed a love of life and enjoyed many friends. Now, as I serve Kountze ISD as Superintendent, I must express how proud our school is of Daniel and his many accomplishments in the service. On behalf of our school district, I offer our sincerest condolences and prayers for the Winegeart family. May God bless you in the days to come.

As Principal of Kountze High School where Daniel graduated in 2002, I felt it was important to express to the family the deepest sympathies of every member of KHS, and to let them know that he was truly loved by all! Daniel was a wonderful young man, very well liked at school, and an inspiration to the many who knew him. His smile was contageous, and his compassion for others reached well beyond the parameters of the high school campus. As a fun-loving student, Daniel grew to be a man admired for his dedication to his country and those he served. He will be sweetly remembered for the many visits back to the campus between deployments, and especially his final visit which was the week prior to his last deployment. He would speak often in high regard for his sister, Laura, who is currently a junior. He would brag about her riding his motorcycle and her love for his jeep! He was such fun! He will always be lovingly remembered by the students, faculty, and staff of Kountze High School, and will be remembered in the hearts of those who knew him. God Bless Daniel, God Bless his family, and God Bless America!

I keep thinking of the last time we saw you, trying to remember the last words we shared. I wish I'd said something more significant, something to let you know how much we valued your friendship along with your enthusiastic patriotism. Your infectuous smile warmed our hearts, just as the memory of you does now. We will miss you forever!

Hi Baby....
I miss you more than words right now and I know you are with God and in a better place but it doesn't end my hurt for you. I miss cuddling up and watching tripping the rift and talking about all the stupid things we had done in our lifes. Thank you for inspiring me to draw again and I am glad you found peace with God baby. Thank you for listening to my fears without talking me down and always supporting my dreams. I remember the way it felt to have that kiss at the end of the work day and know there was no place in the world I would have rather been....
I know I will see you again and we will make our camping trip baby... Till GOD brings me back to you... I love you Daniel and I miss you everyday!
