Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jeffrey, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Thank you everyone who have honored my son by signing this guest book. It does my heart good to know there are people who took the time to express their sympathy and heart felt thoughts, especially those of you who didn't even know Jeff. God Bless you all!
I miss my son more than words could possibly explain. My heart has been ripped out and with each new day my grief of losing Jeff seems to increase. The tears won't stop. I pray this is the hardest thing I will ever have to go through for the rest of my life as I don't think I could survive any more pain.
Now when I read the DOD report about the latest brave soldiers who have been killed my heart instantly aches for their families and friends and the tears start up all over again. I know how they feel as they know how I feel. There are no words.
I know I'll be with my son again some day but until that day comes I pray for the strength and courage I need to go on. In the past when things would upset me I would turn to Jeff to vent and he never failed to cheer me up. Sometimes by being weird, sometimes by making me laugh and sometimes just because I knew he cared. He had a special gift of being able to make others feel better about themselves and smile. He cared about everyone and respected people for WHO they were, not WHAT they were.
I know that Jeff died doing what he loved. I also know that if he knew he'd lose his life when he made the decision to join the Army, he would have joined anyway. He stood by his convictions.
Jeff only got 22 years in his life but in that short time he experienced more than most people do who've had a long lifetime. He grew into a most amazing man, a wonderful human being and a brave and honorable soldier. I am so very, very proud of my son and I'm honored to be his mother.
I LOVE YOU JEFFREY . . . ALWAYS!

I had the honor to go to basic training, AIT and to Germany with Jeff. I never called him Jeff, or Roberson, I always referred to him as my boy. I felt like i had a son in Jeff, as i was one of the old guys in training with him. I learned alot from him, and i only wish I had the chance to know him better. I will miss him, and my most heartfelt sympathy goes to his family and friends.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history, we pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I had the honor of escorting Jeff back to CA. It was the hardest but most honorable task I have ever done. While in CA. I had the chance to meet and spend time with his family. I can say that Jeff was so lucky to have had such a loving family. At the same time his family was lucky to have him. I will never forget Jeff. He was an oustanding soldier. Jeff will be greatly missed. RIP Brother.

To the family, friends, teammates and loved ones of CPL Jeffery G Roberson. aka gordo. Jeff and I knew each other well. He was my bestfriend, my strength and now and always my hero. As all that knew Jeff, there are so many memories we all can cherish of him. His smile and laugh and that way he always made you calm down when you were sad or hurting. But what I remember most of him, was his love for what he did and most of all his family and friends. I have met a lot of people in my life but none with the love and devotion to the people he loved, like Jeff had. I miss him greatly. I feel numb as i still cry everytime I see his pictures.
To his family- I hope you are doing as well as possible. I had a dream last night... that I saw him standing in front of me. I couldnt talk to him, but he was talking to me. He said, "stop crying now fool, I love and miss everyone but I am okay" then I woke up.I am going home to CA soon, then I will say my final good bye. I love you Jeff and to the family. My GOD hold you close and comfort your pain.

To the Roberson family, I had the honor of being Jeffrey's first platoon leader when he first showed up at the 230th MP CO. He was a little rough around the edges, but quickly, much due to SSG Shank, he turned into a capable and competent Soldier. I didn't get to deploy the platoon again as I was promoted and moved to a different post, but I heard so many great things about how he matured and was a stellar Soldier. My heart aches to this day at losing two fine Soldiers like SSG Shank and CPL Roberson. They were phenomenal individuals, great Soldiers, and even better members of the team. All of us that had the priviledge of working with both of those Soldiers were blessed and honored. I shall never forget Jeffrey or Michael Shank. My memories of Jeffrey's smile and walk; of the time he had trouble making coffee, or when he had to carry the PSG's ruck cause his had been a little light, or when he and SSG Shank returned from their supercargo mission across the ocean and there was marked maturity and growth. I am honored to have received Jeffrey into the Army, and I mourn with you in his loss. God bless.
Respectfully,

To the Family of Spc. Jeffrey Roberson:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
