Thank you for your service. In 2018, while visiting Arlington, I was given a card to remember and honor your sacrifice. They were handing out cards with the names of fallen service members, encouraging visitors to take one and keep their memory alive. Today, as I was going through my files, I came across the card I´ve kept all these years, and I wanted to take a moment to honor and remember you.

I can't belive it's 10 years today that you were injured. I remember hearing what sounded like an accident early that morning outside my window, but I looked nothing was there. I know now it was you all those miles away. We miss you soooooo much. The hole in my heart will never close. I just wish I could hug you and see your smiling face again. Love you and miss you. Until we meet again.

It's 10 years today since that night I was woke up from a dead sleep at what sounded like an accident outside my window. It wasn't outside my window I found out later it had to have been you when you had your accident. I still have a message from you on my home phone so I can hear your voice, miss your smile and the hugs. Ten years and it seems like yesterday. Our hearts have such big holes. All the things you have missed, but we knew you were there with us playing your music and toasting with you home made beer. I want to hold you in my arms again and tell you how much I love you. Tell you what a great person you are. We love sweetheat always will and miss you soooooo much. Love you MOM

To the parents and family of Jarrett. I'm one of his closest friends from the unit back in Delaware. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of him or remember all the good times that we had. It was hard then finding out that he had passed and it's still unbelievable that he's not here today. Being deployed a second time, all i could think about was him. I'm still sorry for your loss and hope that all are doing well. He will always hold a special place in my heart and never be forgotten. No matter what I do or where I go JBT will always be by my side.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Jarrett, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt Thompson. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Sgt Thompson knew that there are people who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Sgt Thompson!

I served with Jarrett with the 946th, and had the pleasure of sharing a cab with him on one of our convoys. Jarrett was a great guy who always had a smile on his face, and had a positive impact on those around him. You are not forgotten!

I along with SFC Grimm, served with Jarrett with the 946th. He was always wearing that wide smile and retained a positive attitude no matter the situation. His love of music, God, and country was a true blessing for all to see. I can still hear him strumming his beloved guitar there at Arifjan in the early morning hours. Jarrett we miss you and love you and think of you daily. God bless your wife Kelley and your 2 precious sons that you talked about often.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I met Jarrett at Fort Campbell in April 1997, we both had just arrived at the reception center/welcome center at the sametime. We only knew each other for a couple of weeks since we were both scheduled to go to our new units. In those few weeks we hung out everday until his wife and child came to Kentucky to live with him. A few nights ago I was watching the CBS Evening News and was suprised to see Jarrett as one of the "Fallen Heros". As I heard them describe Jarrett as "someone who loved The Grateful Dead and "good" beer. I said to my wife "I know that guy" shockenly. Even though its been years since I last saw Jarrett, I immediatly knew it was him, since he is the only other person in the army besides myself that I've ever known to love "good" beer and listen to The Grateful Dead. Jarrett gave me a tape of Bob Dylan's self-titled album which I still have and listen to often. I have never forgotten him since then and will never forget him
