Travis A. Moothart Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
Travis A. Moothart''s older brother had served in Bosnia and Kosovo, and when the younger Moothart wanted to join the Army, his family resisted. Their fears increased when he was deployed to Iraq. "I think I prepared myself when he went over there," said his mother, Sue Moothart, of Brownsville, Ore. "I knew his life was in danger every single day." Sgt. Moothart, 23, died Jan. 27 when an improvised explosive device detonated west of Baghdad. Moothart enlisted in April 2000, and was sent to Iraq in September from Fort Riley, Kan. He also had done of tour of duty in Korea. Survivors also include his father, Dennis.

I only knew you as a baby but I still remember your mom, brother and sister. I am grateful for the warriors who sacrifice and give freely to protect others. Thank you, Travis. To your mom and family, I am deeply sorry for your loss, I know it hurts very much. Please know that I stop by Travis' plaque at Timber Linn Memorial Park and say hi to Travis, to let him know that we still think of him.

I remember being in PLDC with you, Joe Dirt jokes were funny. Laying on my bed at 12:10 am thinking of all the people know who never came back or came back a different person. Your jokes really made things easier down there in Fort Polk PLDC!! RIP, brother.

Moot
I don't know what to say. We chilled together in the motorpool. Then about 10 we would run across the street so I could have a smoke. My wife told me what happened. She always looked at the Engineer web site. I was in denial for a long time. I miss you brother.

Dear Moothart family,

I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss, I never served with your son, but led many other Soldiers into harms way and his photo and story reminded me of so many of the Soldiers I deployed with. God bless you all.

Travis was a very close friend...no, more than a friend to me. Travis "Bob" Mootheart was a BROTHER in every sence of the word except the fact we shared no common blood. At times it felt that way with all that he and I had been threw together. He lived with my family and I for a time befor deployment. During that time we created a bond that will never be broken...While deployed together the bond grew and grew and we knew that we would be inseparable for life...Little did we know the fate that awaited. To this day I live with guilt...Why was it not me drive'n the comander that day? Why did I change my mind at the last minute to stay in the rear? The questions eat at me daily... You are truly missed, not only by me but my entire family Moo. To the Mootheart family all I can say is how deeply sorry I am for your loss. If that man can make me break down so much with the memories I have of him, I really can't imagine the pain in your hearts. You will always be in mine...

Thinking of you often...
Love'n you always!

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Over 1,800 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have some wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and only want you know that we care.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com . If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt Moothart. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Sgt Moothart knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.
Thank you Sgt Moothart!

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!
