Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and some of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Jeffrey R. Shaver US Army Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

To the family and friends of SPC Jeffrey Shaver, I am so sorry for your loss. Although I do not know you I just wanted to share the following… Yesterday I participated in the ‘7th Annual Cpl Christopher G. Scherer Run' in Northport, NY'. This was the first time I signed up for the 4 mile run that is held in honor of Cpl Christopher Scherer and all the men and women who gave their lives in service during Operation Iraqi Freedom. On each runners bib number there were four names listed of soldiers that made the ultimate sacrifice. At the end of the race after passing the finish line, each runner rang a bell four times in honor of each of the names on their bib. So... I just wanted to share that SPC Jeffrey Shaver was one of the soldiers that was named on my running bib. Therefore, thought you may like to know about this event and how Jeffrey was honored yesterday.
May our fallen heroes never be forgotten.

I send my deepest condolences to all of Sgt. Shaver's family. I got to serve with Sgt. Shaver in Iraq back in 2004. I never go to thank him for saving my life on May 10th, 2004. If it wasn't for his training along with other medics there, I wouldn't be here right now writing this message. Thank you for everything, Sgt. Shaver, and I'm always thinking of you.

It is difficult to know what to say since I want to express my sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Spc Shaver. Please know that your loved one is not forgotten. I wish everyone impacted by this tragic loss strength and peace. I hope that Spc Shaver knew that there are people in America who respect his great courage in serving as a member of the US military. Although I did not know him, I know that he must have been a very special person to be willing to do something that most Americans will never have to experience, and for that we can never say thank you enough.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I graduated with Jeff in 1997 from newport high school. I had transfered there my senior year. Jeff was one of the first people that I had met. He was very kind and willing to be friends with the new kid. I am also an army veteran that is proud of my service and everyone that has ever served. Jeff is greatly missed and will never be forgotten.

I have only just begun this journey and may not have known your loved one personally.
I extend to you my deepest condolences. No words will ever express the grief those close to this lost treasure are feeling. I can only say that I can share this grief as I too lost a loved one July 8, 2006. I will continue to pray for the safety of our soldiers and especially the family and friends of our lost hero’s. I only hope the memories will carry us through. I will continue pray that you also will believe and know that our heavenly father will not give us more than we can handle.
As always I read (and cry) through the memorials of our lost hero’s, So many people have already expressed the things I would also say. I am amazed and take comfort that so many people care. I can only thank you for the sacrifice you and especially Jeffrey have made to protect our country. As others have said “I am only an email away.” I would be honored if you so choose to share about this fine soldier.
