Yes,today is 8 years when we got the word. We came to visit you at Arlington on 11/18/12 as we do each Sunday before Thanksgiving with your brother firemen at 61/66,they are the greatest guys and watch over your family. We all miss you Chris but this community and family and friends have not forgotten you. In your memory we sent, now over 4000 packages to "our troops, our heros" When we get a new platoon I tell them I lost my nephew so I am adopting all of them as my new nieces and nephews and they write or email me "Dear Aunt Cathy" that is such an honor for me. I move your portrait that Phil did of you all around the house and I talk to you each day. Thank you to everyone who left a message and all who still keep you very much alive. Your little Krissy is just like you. Watch over us, we love you, Aunt Cathy

Thank you Christian for defending my Freedoms. It is because of great American patriots such as you that Americans continue to board airplanes with confidence and the people of this city can live without fear.
You will always be remembered with love and great pride by the grateful nation you served to protect.
Rest in peace.

In Memory of Christian ~ (Debra Estep)

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Christian, but I am remembering
his civilian and military service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

I will forever be greatful for the FDNY. I lost my brother and my brother-in-law and many friends on 9/11/01. When I watch the films about that day, I always notice that it was the FDNY loading up their gear and heading in the direction that everybody was running away from. Not only was Christian one of the people who tried to save the lives of my family members on that fateful day but he then went on to serve his country in the Army Reserve. This was a true American Hero! The Engeldrum family is in my prayers and may you gain strength from the voices that honor Christian.

May God Bless his memory. I knew his father Phill Engeldrum when we were in the Army Reserve together. We were long distance friends for many years until Phil died this year.Pray for the family and do not forget Christian Engeldrum, an American hero.

I am deeply saddened to find out of Sgt. Christian P. Engeldrum's passing from this life, even if it has been some time ago now. He was so courageous and must have been such a sensitive and caring man to do what he did after 9/11 and then to go and sacrifice his life in Iraq fighting for the freedom of all of us. I did not have the honor or luxury of knowing him. But that does not keep me from joining family and friends in grieving for him, honoring him and remembering that he was. My sincerest prayers and deepest of sympathies go to all of you who knew him and loved him. I will continue to remember him and to remember to hold all of you in my prayers in the years to come. Christian is in a place where there is no more war, famine, anger, hatred, pain or death. That sounds like the kind of place that we will want to join him in in our due time on earth. Christian, thank you for all you did while you were with us. Thank you for giving. We honor you by choosing never to forget you. May God bless you where you are. And may you now rest in peace, son.

I know there are no words to say, except how sorry I am for your loss. May you hold Christians' memory in your heart and please remember he shall never be forgotten.
...For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed.
But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I knew Chris very well early in his military career he was outstanding paratrooper assigned to my Squad. The last time I saw Chris was January, 1988 when I departed the 82nd Airborne Division. I learned of his death from ABC Nightly News. Once I received the shocking news I immediately pulled out my wedding photos because Chris had participated in my wedding. I would like to let the Engeldrum family know, your Father and Husband will never be forgotten by me. God Bless

To Chris's Family,
Words will never be enough to express the sorrow that I feel. Both of my brother's and my father are in the FDNY, and one ofmy brothers was lost on 9-11-01.
I want to thank Chris, and all of you for his bravery. From all that I have read, and all that I have been told from my brother, he was and always will be a great man.
Thank you Chris, for figting for our country both on our own soil, and over seas. Thank you Engeldrum family for having such a brave son, husband, father, and sibling. You will always be missed, and never be forgotten.
