Bryan S. Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 28, 2005.
Bryan Wilson was a Marine and took the American Indian name Many Wars during a ceremony a few days after he and his wife married in a traditional wedding in 2002. "We're both Cherokee," said his wife, Samantha Wilson. Wilson, 22, of Otterbein, Ind., died Dec. 1 when his Humvee overturned. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton. Samantha Wilson said she and her husband spoke by phone only a few times since he left for Iraq nearly three months ago and she received a couple of letters. "He said it was bad there, but he said he would never have changed his mind about going," she said. "The only thing was, he said he was scared." Wilson's photo hangs in the cafe that Samantha Wilson's parents own in Independence, Ind. "He knew when he graduated that he was going to be a Marine," said Wilson's mother-in-law, Linda Klinger. "He was very brave, and we're so proud of him. He made the ultimate sacrifice for all of us." The couple have a 20-month-old daughter, Breanne.

Bryan is the Son of Charles (CV) and Brenda Wilson. Growing up in rural Indiana, Bryan was an avid deer hunter. He went into Boy Scouts of America in kindergarten as a tiger scout. He went on to earn Eagle Scout in 2000. He attended Seeger Memorial High School and enjoyed playing football, being a member of the wrestling team and cross country track. He was also in FFA and was head of his parley team. He went into the Marines on the delayed entry program his Senior year. He was married in 2003. He had a beautiful daughter named Breanne while he was deployed to Japan in 2002. He was deployed on December 11, 2004 and was killed in a rollover Humvee accident on December 1, 2004.
I remember Bryan as a child, chocolate on his face, hand raised in the Cubscout salute promising to serve God and his country. Then, years later, his hand raised promising to protect his country for another 4 years. This was just 4 days before he was killed. I know that the moment Bryan died he was standing in the presence of God. How do I know this? Because he accepted Jesus into his heart and was baptized at the age of 9. May God hold you in the palm of His hand till I see you again. I love you, Mom

For Bryan:
"Don't think of him as gone away-his journey's just begun, life holds so many facets-this earth is only one.

Just think of him as resting from the sorrows and the tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days and years.

Think how he must be wishing that we could know today how nothing but our sadness can really pass away.

And think of him as living in the hearts of those he touched...for nothing loved is ever lost-and he was loved so much."
Author: E. Brenneman
Bryan, you were loved so much and still are in our hearts. May God hold you in the palm of his hand till I see you again. And may comfort be found in the knowlege that we will see you again.
Love, Mom

In Memory of Bryan ~ (Debra Estep)

December 2, 2008

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”

I did not know Bryan, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

May the entire wilson family be blessed. Bryan was a wonderful person to have known. He always kept spirits high. It was an honor to have known him in school and out. I have many pictures of him and the kinds of things he would do to make us laugh. One picture was from the prom when he held a french frie with his chin. He was so handsom that night and Samantha was so very beautiful. They made a wonderful couple. I will alwasy hold dear the memorys I had with the two of them. I wish you all the best of luck and remember no matter what he'll always be here with us in our hearts and memroys.

My dearest Bryan,
December 12th was the 3rd anniversary of the day of your funeral. I reflected on your memory off and on all day. You are a part of me and always will be. I long for the day when I will see you again. I know you will be waiting at the gate for me and I can hear you now... "Mom! Come, let me show you the wonderful things I have found!"...with the child-like enthusiasm you always had. This knowlege gets me through each and every day, that I will see you again. You are a true hero and I know, given the choice, you would do it all again. You believed in what you were doing and you wanted to make a difference. May God be with all the troops and their families. Give them the power to make a difference.

Father we entrust our brother Bryan to your mercy. You loved him greatly in this life: now that he is freed from all its cares, give him happiness and peace forever. Welcome him now into paradise where there will be no more sorrow, no more weeping or pain, but only peace and joy with Jesus your Son, and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.

If this person can stand in battle to ensure my freedom, then I will stand in grief with his/her family to honor him/her. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guest book for the rest of my life, but I promised LE RON A. WILSON (a dear friend KIA 7/6/07, 18yrs old) that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Bryan,

It's hard still for me to believe that you're not here with me, although I do know you watch over me from your special place in heaven. I heard a song a few months back that makes me thing of you. Almost every time I hear it I cry. It's called "I Just Came Back From a War." You paid the ultimate price for the freedom that I enjoy everyday. I'm so proud to call you my cousin and one of my best friends. I love you and miss you.

Dear Wilson Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Though I do not know you or your beloved hero personally, as an Army Wife, I can understand part of what you felt when he was deployed to Iraq. My husband returned from his deployment not long ago. I was lucky. I know it won't be long before he will have to go again. I feel your loss with all of my heart. I don't have words to express how my heart goes out to you and your family. This young hero, his loss, is felt by everyone. I am so sorry. He has a beautiful daughter~ She looks much like him. I love those pictures of her with the pictures of him. Very touching. Bless your hearts. I don't have words to express my sympathy for the loss of your young hero. That he is gone, the world is a less bright place, I am sure. My heart goes to you all. I am so sorry for your loss... My tears fall for this young father, this young man, that I never knew, and I don't know what to say to you to help ease your hurt. I can only say that I see him as a hero, that he will be remembered by those who did not know him for having courage, for doing the right thing, for being strong and brave. For being the man he was~ Thank you. Thank him for that~ he paid the ultimate price, so did you. From one military family to another, my heart is sent to you~

“Paid in Full”
To Honor The Service of Fallen and Injured Marines

Marines through and through, they paid the price
Six thousand miles away, we live the life
For which they paid with their blood, spirits and bodies
We will never forget what they paid in full

We hope and we pray that somehow their loved ones find comfort
In God, in the flag, in the memory of their loved ones’ bravery
They’re gone now but we see them still…proud, strong, willing
Covering each other’s backs… courageous, moving forward

What kind of love did they have for us to be willing
To give it all for the Black, White, Jew, Christian, Muslim?
We don’t comprehend but we honor you now and forever
You are Our Marines…some living…some not
Forever in our hearts we will cherish your lives

Lives too short yet immortal they’ll be
Highest brotherhood of the Few, the Proud
They stand at attention, and we gaze with awe
Some know their names not, but our admiration for them
Flows limitless within us, between us

They sacrificed their limbs or their lives
Freedom still rings, a soft sound across the miles
It tolls slowly; all of creation takes note
Of the lives that were lost for people unknown

Out of sight but not lost; forever among us
The starched blues marching straight
Toward the place where we will meet them
Many years from now…how we loved them…
Well done beloved Brothers and Sisters…You’ve paid it in full
Always Faithful Marines, You Have Paid it in Full

Thank you so much for fighting for my freedom. I've never thought of, or had, hero's in my life. But I do now. What would this country be like, if it were not for countrymen like you?
