I would like to extend my deepest sympathies. Losing a loved on is the hardest thing in life. I am writing to not only express my sorrow for you but to let you know about a memorial I am working on. And sometimes I've been violent,

But, I never took a penny

When the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help,

And sometimes, God forgive me,

I know I don't deserve a place

Thank you for the sacrifice made by Spc Rivera and the sacrifice made by everyone who loves and misses him! May God bless all of you!!

I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON (KIA on 07/06/07) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

Nicholas Brown was in 2/7 Cav and left behind a young wife and newborn son. Michael is a hero in the finest traditions of the United States Army. I want to express my condolences on the passing of your hero. My son SSG Webb also died on that day with your son. Words can not express the sadness and pain felt at the loss of these fine young men. I never had the priveldge of meeting your son, but I have been told by my son's wife and family that he was a good man and proud of his family. I was lucky enough to get to meet Rivera while at Fort Hood. He always had jokes and wasn't afraid to speak his mind. I admired him as a soldier and a person. When I first found out about his passing I nearly broke my hand on my desk. I'm going to miss that THICK NY accent and boisterous laugh. But they'll always live on in my memory.

First my deepest condolences to his mother, joycelin and his father, Freddie who loved him more than words could express adequately.My deepest sympathies for his brother and his sisters also his wife and daughter. I can't even begin to put into words everything that I feel right now. Michael was someone I knew I could never forget, from the moment I met him. We went to high school together, where we spent endless hours in the art room with our other friends and teachers. We'd listen to music and talk about life and school - any and everything we could think of. Mike was the kind of guy that could make you smile in .3 seconds or less. All he had to do was walk in and say hello or smile and my day would be a hundred times better than how it started. He was loved and will always be loved. My heart isn't the only one that has a special place in it for him.

To his family... his wife and child, parents and siblings... I send my deepest condolences. We were all truly blessed with your son and husband and brother - and father. I will keep you all in my prayers.

My mother went to the wake today. She believes that as the mother of a Marine, that is currently in Iraq, it is her duty to support all mothers no matter what. My entire family grieves with you. My husband and I had the pleasure of meeting Spc Michael D. Rivera on October 30, 2006, the day he deployed to Iraq from Fort Hood, Texas. Our son-in-law SSG Christopher R. Webb introduced us to Spc Rivera. Spc Rivera had a wonderful smile and was so kind to everyone around him. His wife had a baby girl four days after our granddaughter was born to SSG Webb and our daughter. Our daughter told us how excited Spc Rivera was about some of his purchases for his daughter. Our condolences go out to Spc Rivera's wife, baby girl, and to all those who loved him. Words cannot express the pain and grief we are feeling right now as we lost our son-in-law also. My prayers continue for God's love and comfort to surround the family and loved ones of Spc Rivera as you go through this most difficult time. Thank you Spc Rivera for your dedicated and brave service to our Country. Rest in God's love and peace.

Our deepest sympathy are being sent to the family. We know the pain you are in, and just wish we could be together to get through all this. Our son, SPC Darrell Shipp was killed on January 25 2007. He was also in the 2-5 CAV. You are all in our prayers.

Remembering you as a child, and watching you grow up makes this especially hard. With everyday that I watched you and your cousin breeding fish on 43rd street, never would I have imagined that I would never see you again. My heart goes out to your family, and your precious daughter. She will grow up to be very proud of the man you became, and the sacrifice you made to help bring peace to this world, because I know I am. You will be, and are greatly missed. I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
