Miss you brother. Its been a long time since we pulled pranks on everyone during that one field problem just outside of Budingen... you made our first deployment memorable too... we kept the pranks going - it was all in good fun, you had a way of keeping things light - even in the darkness of true evil. Miss you friend.

This is to the family. Keep praying put your faith in God. There no lost greater when a parent loses a child, but love of that child will help you endure. (Romans 5:8-9) . . .But God recommends his own love to us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Hey Marty,
While you are walking around in heaven remember what your grandfather said about "Parflate Road" (Popular Grove). (smile) Well, Marlon, I really feel that it is truly okay to walk down Parflate Road now that you are a Guardian Angel. So many people there sure could use your spiritual leadership. I am so happy that you have left so many wonderful memories for us to think back on. I love you!!!
Please continue to watch over us all.
May God keep on Blessing and Holding "All" of you close in his Loving Spirit.

In Honor of a Great Hero,
Marlon, It has taken me this long to sign this guest book because I feel your presence often. You are not gone, I know that you are just away. I truly understand that you have just transformed into another self. I do believe that their is life after this life. I also know that you are never along. You know that I went on a very strange but spiritual walk myself that day that you transitioned. I felt your presence very strongly that day. I will always feel blessed in knowing that you were somehow around to guide me through what could have been a very hard cross for me to bear. I thank God for the blessings of comfort and understanding that he has given me, so that I am able to endure the news of a family member's spirit returning home to him. I received this blessing on the day that Daddy transitioned. Although my mortal self goes through heart-wrenching grief for a short time afterwards, I am soon able to rejoice in spirit because I know that my family member has closed their eyes in what we believe as death, only to quickly awaken in what I believe to be a wonderous and spiritual place of love, peace, joy, and understanding. I thank God that you do not have to suffer. I thank God that you are with family. And I truly thank God for the pleasure of not only have known you, but for allowing you to be a part of us (your family). I loved you then, I love you now, and I will love and remember you forever. Hey, Take care of Khloe for me. (smile)
When its time, I will see you at the crossroads.
Lovingly, You Aunt

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Marlon, but I am remembering on

He is my hero.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Sgt. Harper stands as a hero in the finest traditions of the United States Army. But a man must be judged by his deeds and his friends, in this book Marlon has passed those tests. On January 22, 2007 we lost our son-in-law in Iraq. Spec. Nicholas Brown was in 2/7 Cav and loved working with the professionals who weren't afraid to share their knowledge. He left behind a young wife and a newborn son. As my grandson gets older he will learn not only about his father but also heroes like Marlon. Thank you,

Stacy Harper,
Larry Jefferson, aka "J", I met Harper in Basic Training and the brotherhood bond we formed there and kept through my entire enlistment at Fort Carson. I'm so sorry for the lost of an outstanding husband, soldier, and I'm sure father. Marlon really taught me what loyalty, courage and family stands for and it's not a day that goes by that I don't tell my children and family of the things Harper and I went through and the things he help me through. He meant so much to me as I'm sure everyone has said, and i hate we lost touch with each other; but was trying to find him. I guess I'm trying to say was/is/and will always be my brother; I loved and miss him so much. My condolences to you and the entire family. Please contact me anytime, night or day.

Marlon was in my platoon in Buedingen, Germany (the same one Jose Mendoza was in). We worked together daily for a good year and a half. This hits so close to home for me now because of just how funny Marlon was and how we always traded jokes and other nonsense between each other constantly. He was a funny, funny guy. He enjoyed being a soldier and a tanker.
My heart goes out to his wife and children. The only way for me to make sense of things like this is that Our Lord God has a plan, even if we don't understand it. Marlon will always be watching over us now.
God Bless you Harper.Rest in peace my friend. You and your family will be with us in our thoughts and prayers.

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

I shared a tour of duty in Germany with Marlon in 2000-2001. I have so many memories of him because we were part of the same platoon (Jedi Platoon). There was not a more outstanding soldier not a better friend. He was always ready for everything and when he didn't know the answer he found it. He was helpful to everybody and words can't express how sad it was to find out that he died in that dreadful place. Rest in peace my friend. You'll always be remembered. !Jedis!

First of all I want to thank god for you, because as a united States soldier it's hard to find good leadership, You came into my life and my boys life during a time when my brother had left, I was alone with no one and then you appeared. I believe everything happens for a reason. To stacy and the kids my heart goes out to you, stacy be strong in the lord he will give you comfort in your time of need as he does for me everyday that I think about him. I have known about Marlon for a while through a friend but finally meet SSG Harper in Kuwait in November. We sat outside and talked for hours and laughing. He was a clown, but he was also a firm believer in what he did best. I will never forget the respect he earned from me when he talked about his soliders.
To his family especailly the children your daddy will be watching over you everyday now. Eventhough he is gone in body he will always be there in spirit.

Stacy, Dominic, Jennifer & Jessica,
That he was near to you
so many a year
But darkens you distress.
Would you he were
less worthy and less dear
That you might grieve the less?
He was a golden font
that freely poured
What goldenly endures,
And though that font be gone,
its bounty stored
and treasured,
Still is yours.
The past is deathless.
Souls are wells too deep
To spend their purest gains.
All that he gave to you
is yours to keep
While memory remains.
Who never had and lost
forlorn are they
Far more that you and I
Who had and have
Judge not the price we pay
For love that cannot die.
You all will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Words cannot express my sorrow at this time. I graduated from Carver with Marlon in 1991. He was a wonderful person. We can question, why him? why now? why this way? but only God knows. God makes no mistakes. I know that Marlon has taken his place in the kingdom of heaven. He will be eternally a guardian angel to all who know and love him.

I am sorry to learn of your loss. I send my sincere condolences to Marlon’s family and friends. It's at times like this that we need comfort, support, and questions answered and the Bible can be that source. At Job 14: 14 a question is asked, “If an able bodied man die, can he live again?" The answer is found at John 11: 25, here Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life, he that exercises faith in me, even though he dies, shall live." Your beloved one MARLON B. HARPER will not be forgotten.
Marlon and I went to Carver Vo-Tech High School together Class of 1991. Whenever you saw Marlon he was ready to share a smile. My heart is heavy because he was a young man full of dreams and ambition. Thank you Marlon for being a good friend and May God continue to allow you to rest in His arms.
